MCC in Australia: MCC v Crusaders

An excellent 82 by Jon Walford (a deserved century denied by a slow outfield) and a gritty 39 from Ed McKenna took MCC to 207 all out, off the last ball of the allotted 50 overs. MCC took the field with rare purpose and reduced Crusaders to 18-2 with Deon Kruis bowling very quickly and taking 2-7 off four overs before tearing his calf muscle in the outfield. MCC battled hard after the loss of their strike bowler and further reduced Crusaders to 94-5 before their nemesis, C.Dalkin, came in at the fall of the fifth wicket to power his way to 62 in 41 balls, in partnership with D.Russ, who secured one end with 82, not out. The match was effectively lost before Dalkin fell with the score on 187. MCC battled bravely but fell to a four wicket defeat.
