MCC in Australia: MCC v Swan Richard's XI

MCC won the toss and elected to bat on this first match of the tour. Wickets fell at regular intervals, but the visitors made steady progress. Captain Ben Debenham top scored with 40 while Mark Walton contributed 28, not out lower down the order to enable MCC to reach 133-9 from their 40 overs.

After the interval, MCC made a couple of early breakthroughs to reduce the Swan Richard’s XI to 22-3 off 22 overs and, at that stage, were marginally on top. However, C.Dalkin then came to the crease and changed the course of the game by striking the ball to all parts of the ground, making a quick-fire 59, not out. He was ably supported by M.Sheehan (36, not out). Together, they took the Swan Richard’s XI to victory with 7 overs to spare.
