Throughout the year, MCC will host at Lord’s a variety of celebrations – on and off the field – which aim to bring the very best of Lord’s to Members, cricket lovers, history enthusiasts and the Club’s neighbours in and around St. John’s Wood.
From MCC v Rest of the World matches and a three-day festival of cricket, celebrating the Ground’s oldest fixtures, to a pioneering digital model illustrating how Lord’s has changed over 200 years, the celebrations will be broad and diverse.
Lord’s will also host a series of banquets and balls...but with a difference. For the first time, they will be hosted in a marquee on the outfield, looking out over the square, at the season’s end.
By happy coincidence 2014 also marks the 150th anniversary of the formation of Middlesex CCC, and it is fitting that Mike Gatting will serve as President during a year of such celebration for his two clubs.
On the evening of Wednesday 5 February the President launched the Bicentenary celebrations in the Long Room and Museum.

MCC v. Rest of the World matches
In the summer of 2014 MCC will invite the finest men’s and women’s cricketers from across the globe to help celebrate the Bicentenary of the Ground in the most fitting style possible – two MCC v Rest of the World matches.
A Festival of Cricket
On 22 June 1814, MCC played Hertfordshire in the first match to be arranged at the new Lord’s Ground. Exactly 200 years later the two clubs will meet again in the culmination of a three-day Festival of Cricket which will also feature the two oldest continuously-played fixtures at the Ground – Oxford v Cambridge (Friday 20th June) and Eton v Harrow (Saturday 21 June).

Balls, banquets and dinners
During October, a marquee will be erected on the outfield of the Main Ground which will host banquets, balls and lunches for Members and Candidates, County Members, local residents and members of the public.
Over two weeks those who attend the events will be able to enjoy the experience of dining in unique surroundings on cricket’s most famous ground. At the two balls they will round the evening off in style in the Long Room transformed into a Ball Room.
On four dates in November 2014, MCC Members and their guests will be invited to experience an intimate evening of entertainment in the Pavilion at Lord’s.
