First meeting of new "Local to Lord's" group

Date released: 18 June 2003

A new consultative group, which aims to improve the flow of information between Lord's and the local community, met for the first time on Tuesday 10th June.

Its discussions were wide-ranging, and included MCC's plans for refurbishing its Pavilion, its ideas for improving the Lord's Tavern pub (off St John's Wood Road) and ways of improving the distribution of MCC's twice-yearly community newsletter.

Chaired by MCC's Deputy Chief Executive (David Batts), the group's members include representatives of the St John's Wood Society (Andrew Mainz), the St Marylebone Society (Susie Barnes) and local residents and businesses.

It is anticipated that the group will meet at least four times a year (with its next meeting likely to take place on Monday 1st September).

In addition to convening this new group, to improve community relations, MCC will continue to stage several 'open days' for its neighbours - including the Westminster Cricket Challenge Cup in mid-July and a Long Room carol evening in December.
