Free cricket at Lord's

Date released: 18 August 2011

On Monday 22 August an MCC side take on a team from the Club Cricket Conference in one of many matches at Lord's with free entry during August.

Club Cricket Conference

Min Patel
Club man: MCC Member Min Patel
The Club Cricket Conference draws from over 1,150 member clubs in the south and east of England.

Their team is coached by former Kent and England cricketer Min Patel and features the pick of players from across the CCC leagues - including Ealing CC brothers Mylo and Oliver Wilkin.

They're captained by a man who will know Lord's better than many of his team-mates, Wesley Morrick. Durban-born Morrick was an MCC Young Cricketer and has played in MCC colours in tour matches, mostly recently in Hong Kong and China where he impressed with both bat and ball.

Leeds/Bradford MCCU's Sam Burge
Playing for the opposition: MCCUs' Sam Burge
East Molesey CC's Sam Burge is one of many in the match with links to MCC Universities too. Burge plays for Leeds/Bradford MCCU and is studying for a degree in Business Economics at Leeds University.

The MCC team, captained by wicket-keeper Ryan Bradshaw, will feature a blend of youth and experience. Former first-class county players Keith Newell, Ben Gannon and Kevin Dean will add the knowledge of over 200 first-class matches to the side.

23-year-old former Derbyshire and Durham MCCU player Chris Paget will offer a spin option; and two current MCC Young Cricketers, Jamie Southgate and Eddie Ballard, will make up the XI.

Furthermore, under-16s get free entry to all Middlesex matches in August. Still to come this month is a CB40 match against Sussex on Monday 29 August and an LV County Championship match against Leicestershire - the first two days of which benefit from the offer.

With many youngsters still on school holidays why not bring them down to Lord's to enjoy some live sport (and fresh air!).

You could take in a Tour of Lord's; the MCC Museum and see the one and only Ashes Urn during your visit too. Then end up in the Lord's Tavern - for Mum and Dad's treat!
