Hunt awarded Groundsman commendation

Head Groundsman at Lord's, Mick Hunt, has received a commendation award in the ECB Groundsman of the Year Awards.

Bill Gordon at The Brit Oval won Grounsman of the Year in both the 'Four Day Pitches' and 'One-Day Pitches' awards.

Hunt collected a special commendation in the Four Day Pitches category.

In the MCC Universities category for University Centres of Cricket Excellence (UCCE), the Oxbridge rivalry was to the fore.

Oxford's Richard Sula won the category for his work at The Parks with John Moden at Fenners in Cambridge the runner-up.

ECB Head of Operations (First Class Cricket), Alan Fordham, said, "Once again the nation’s groundsmen and their teams have worked incredibly hard to produce some excellent pitches during another wet season.

"Great matches happen on great pitches and the tireless work that groundsmen do all year means that many thousands of spectators and players get maximum enjoyment from the game.
