Indian summer for MCC Women

Date released: 27 August 2008

Bev Nicholson will captain a side dominated by England players as MCC Women face the touring India side at Bath Cricket Club on Thursday 28 August.

Everyone will be out to impress: the England players will be looking to cement their places in the national team and MCC Young Cricketers looking to showcase themselves to the selectors.

Headlining for MCC and fresh from her batting heroics at Lord’s will be former MCC Young Cricketer Caroline Atkins.

After scoring 145 against South Africa at 'The Home of Cricket' and sharing in a Women’s One Day International record partnership of 268 with Sarah Taylor, Atkins will be looking to continue her rich vein of form in the MCC match at Bath Cricket Club.

John Stephenson, MCC’s Head of Cricket, said: "This is the flagship match of the MCC Women’s season and we’re looking forward to a contest that will be of high quality and important for the development of our Young Cricketers.

"After being on the losing side against the international teams in the last few seasons, we’re keen to get a win under our belts and take MCC Women’s cricket to the next level."
