4:52pm Eliminator over: Two runs from the first ball but a dot (zero) ball next. This could be close!

Ireland have Zuiderent heading back to the dugout - stumped by Wilson. 2-1 for Netherlands.

That's it! Johnston's won it for Ireland! Reekers swung, missed tried to run... Johnston picked it up on the turn and threw down Ten Doeschate's stumps at the non-strikers end! Great fielding!

Ireland win by four runs

4:50pm Here come Ireland back on to the field - who'll be the bowler to bowl their "eliminator over"?

It's going to be Trent Johnston with Zuiderent and Ten Doeschate batting.

4:42pm Super over: Porterfield on strike, runs a ragged single after Nannes nipped one in at his ribcage.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman outWilson's out, caught by Zuiervent. 3 runs, 1 wicket in this "eliminator over". Trent Johnston comes out to bat.

Ireland score six

Netherlands will have a modest target from the six balls they'll face, to clinch the match.

4:40pm Looks like Porterfield and Wilson will be the two Ireland batsmen given the task of this super-over.

4:39pm For those of you wondering why Ireland haven't won - given that the scores are tied but Ireland lost only seven wickets to Netherlands' nine - but in Twenty20 it's all about the runs - who can score the most?

4:33pm Confusion reigns, will there be a "super-over" to decide the match? It seems like it - the players are staying out there.

This is a great demonstration for us - a super-over is T20 cricket's equivalent to soccer's penalty shoot-out. Six balls bowled by each team - who can score the most runs?

4:26pm 20th over: Last over - nine runs needed for victory. Seelar the bowler.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman outSeelar's got the four-scoring Wilson! Great news for the Netherlands - one ball less to score from and one batsman down. Skipped that one past Wilson and Smits whips off the bails.

Ireland 128-7 - Wilson - st. Smits b. Seelar - 22

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, fourWest's first ball... and he hits it right back down the ground for four! Two needed from two balls!

Swing and a miss! Two needed from one ball now. Nail-biting stuff in this first match at Lord's! And one is exactly what they get! Scores tied!

4:22pm 19th over: 20 runs needed, from 12 balls. Can they do it?

McCallan trying to repeat the 'switch hit' of earlier - but doesn't even get close!

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, fourThat's more like it. Wilson gets a solid hit on that, dropping to one knee and drilling it to the boundary.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, fourFour more from Wilson - he's determined to make a game of it. Ireland edge closer to their target of 136. Just nine runs away now.

4:19pm 18th over: The biggest cheer of the day as the India team appear on the big-screens, stood on the Pavilion balcony, sending their fans into raptures!

Meanwhile, back on the pitch, Ireland look likely to need more than a run-a-ball from the last two overs. Should be exciting!

Lords.org commentary icon: New bowler comes on4:12pm 17th over: Dirk Nannes returns at the Nursery End. Nannes' raw-pace makes Ireland pause for thought.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman outJohnston throws the bat at that one... it's way, way in the air, almost directly over the wicket and safely caught by Van Bunge.

Ireland 109-6 - Johnston c. Van Bunge b. Nannes - 17

4:09pm 16th over: Coming up to crunch time now. Four overs left - the scores are pretty close. Ireland need runs, Netherlands need wickets. 39 more runs to win it, or five more wickets.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, fourSlightly fewer runs needed now as Johnson pops that one away for another boundary to his total. 100 up for Ireland.

Lords.org commentary icon: New bowler comes on4:06pm 15th over: Maurits Jonkman comes on to bowl from the Nursery End - some medium pace seam now, despite the success of the spinners, they deserve a rest.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman out4:01pm 14th over: Botha's gone now too - not what his side needed. He steps down the wicket to Seelar and Smits has his bails off before he can turn back to his ground.

Ireland 80-5 - Botha st. Smits b. Seelar - 35

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, fourNew batsman Trent Johnston gets things going again with a couple of rapid fours.

Lords.org commentary icon: New bowler comes on3:58pm 13th over Peter Borren on to bowl from the Nursery End. Ireland trying to settle down again after that flurry of wickets.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman out3:55pm 12th over: Another wobble from Ireland - O'Brien is out, bowled by Seelar.

Ireland 75-4 - O'Brien b. Seelar - 2

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, four3:50pm 11th over: A neat cut from Botha brings him four more and at the half-way stage Ireland, after a shaky start, look good.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, fourBotha drilled that one... through the hands of the fielder - to bring up the fifty partnership between these two.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman outBut the partnership is over now... chaotic running from Botha and Stirling a sharp throw back to the wicketkeeper Smits who, standing in the middle of the pitch, throws down Stirling's stumps easily.

Ireland 71-3 - Stirling run-out - 27

Lords.org commentary icon: New bowler comes on3:46pm 10th over: Slow left-armer Seelar replaces Schiferli at the Pavilion End.

Botha and Stirling happy to run zippy singles as they size up the new bowler.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, four3:42pm 9th over: Edged by Stirling! But it flies wide of the diving Smits and runs for four.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, sixThese two are certainly picking up the run-rate for Ireland now. There's the first six of the innings, Stirling hooking Ten Doeschate into the Grand Stand - fifty up for Ireland.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, four3:35pm 8th over: Botha is certainly trying to up the run-scoring-rate for Ireland - he delivers that one down the wicket for another four.

Lords.org commentary icon: New bowler comes on3:35pm 7th over: Ryan ten Doeschate comes into the bowling attack for Netherlands.

Ten Doeschate's fifth wicket stand of 35 was the largest partnership in the Netherlands' innings.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, fourBotha is intent on making this a good partnership for Ireland as he powers that one through the covers for another four runs.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, four3:30pm 6th over: Four for Stirling but he only just got it over Szwarczynski's leaping, outstretched hand at point. A narrow escape.

3:27pm 5th over: Smart bowling, cautious batting and some good fielding combine to slow the Ireland score to around 4 an over - nowhere near enough for victory at this quarter-way point in the innings.

3:26pm Schiferli is another surname to conjure with - can you come up with a good nickname for the Dutch wicket-taker?

Send us your emails

3:21pm 4th over: Good fielding from the Netherlands there. A direct hit on the stumps looks good - but Stirling was safe.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman outThe Ireland captain, Porterfield, is gone - Schiferli has him caught behind by his own captain and wicketkeeper Smits.

Ireland 15-2 - Porterfield c. Smits b. Schiferli - 11

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, four3:17pm 3rd over: Porterfield hits that one for four - but gets hit by the next one, fending it into his grill.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, four3:12pm 2nd over: That four will make Porterfield feel better. He should feel quite at home here - the Ireland captain spent time at Lord's as an MCC Young Cricketer.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman outBray can feel at home back in the dugout - caught behind he's gone.

Ireland 5-1 - Bray c. Smiths b. Schiferli - 1

3:08pm 1st over: Here we go with the second innings - the players are ready and somewhere I can hear Irish Rover music blaring...

Dirk Nannes opens the Netherlands attack, Ireland captain Will Porterfield facing.

Nannes finding some real pace and bounce to trouble Porterfield - a slow start for Ireland, just one run from the over. A run-rate of just under seven needed for victory.

2:51pm Well, that was good fun! Nine wickets, 135 runs - you can't say Twenty20 cricket is boring!

Are you a Dutch or Irish cricket fan? Let us know. Who are your tips for this year's title? Can anyone stop India?

Lords.org commentary icon: New bowler comes on2:47pm 20th over: Last over of the innings - Peter Connell to bowl it - what do you fancy? The final Dutch wicket? Or more runs for the Oranje?

It's the latter - as some more good running between the wickets sees Netherlands close on 135-9.

Lords.org commentary icon: New bowler comes on2:43pm 19th over: As we near the end of the innings, the Dutch are going for suicide-style running - but they're quick!

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman outBoyd Rankin on as the "death bowler" - the name teams use for the bowler who delivers the last few, vital overs of the innings. And Rankin "kills" Nannes, out caught behind to a quick delivery.

Netherlands 129-2 - c. Wilson b. Rankin - Nannes 2

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman out2:37pm 18th over: A great sight for any bowler... Ten Doeschate's middle stump is out of the ground and McCallan is celebrating.

Netherlands 122-7 - b. McCallan - Ten Doeschate 29

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman out for a duck (no runs)McCallan's looking for a hat-trick now! Schiferli out first ball - LBW!

Netherlands 122-8 - LBW McCallan - Schiferli 0

Another former Middlesex-man, Nannes ruins the hat-trick chance. Our special hat-trick icon remains, as yet, unused.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, fourDe Grooth does more than survive. Last ball of the over and he's "doing a Pietersen" dropping to one knee to "switch hit-sweep" McCallan for four!

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman out2:33pm 17th over: Borren's six-hitting turns out to be a final-flurry. He tried to paddle that one into the leg side but it just loops up to Rankin who takes the catch.

Netherlands 117-6 - c. Rankin b. Connell - Borren 17

2:30pm 16th over: In the air! But short of the fielders back on the boundary, Borren is safe - for now.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, sixThat's a bit better - Borren got hold of that one and hits it all the way, over the dug-outs by the Pavilion and that's six!

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, sixA tongue-twister up here in the Investec Media Centre - successive sixes (say that quickly!) and Borren is motoring now!

Lords.org commentary icon: New bowler comes on2:26pm 15th over: Connell back on to bowl from the Nursery End - returning a bit of seam and pace to the spin attack.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, fourA big but smartly placed shot from Ten Doeschate goes for four - that brings up 100 for Netherlands.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman out2:22pm 14th over: McCallan checks his delivery in the final stride - walks back, bowls again and Van Bunge is out! Another looping catch to Bray on the boundary.

Netherlands 89-5 - c. Bray b. McCallan - Van Bunge 18

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, four2:18pm 13th over: They are accelerating now - Van Bunge steps down the wicket and swats a short one from West away for four.

Lords.org commentary icon: New bowler comes on2:15pm 12th over: Another new bowler, Kyle McCallan comes on at the Pavilion End - Van Bunge welcomes him with a four!

Some scampering running from the Netherlands, they're desperate to up the run-rate as it drops back towards six an over.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, four2:12pm 11th over: West flights that first one up and POW - Ten Doeschate clubs that to the boundary.

Lords.org commentary icon: New bowler comes on2:08pm 10th over: We're coming up to halfway through the innings at the end of this over. I told you it goes quickly!

Johnston has changed ends now, bowling from the Pavilion End.

That's halfway, Netherlands 66-4 at this stage.

2:04pm 9th over: Van Bunge played here for Middlesex a few years back so should be familiar with Lord's. More singles and more cautious running now, keep the scoreboard moving.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman out2:01pm 8th over: Soft hands and a gentle dink off the shoulder of the bat - good runs to get Ten Doeschate off the mark... but disaster! They've run him out! He went for a third and smart Irish fielding had Szwarczynski run out.

Netherlands 54-4 - run out - Szwarczynski 10

"Eric" is gone...

Lords.org commentary icon: New bowler comes on1:55pm 7th over: We're over a quarter of the way through the Netherlands' innings and they're trotting along at 7.5 an over so far - pretty good going.

Regan West comes on at the Nursery End.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman outThe bowling change works! West turns that one past Reekers' defences and bowls him!

Netherlands 49-3 - b. West - Reekers 20

Talented Essex all-rounder Ten Doeschate comes out to bat - there could be fireworks here. Netherlands' fifty up, off 45 balls.

1:51pm 6th over: Perhaps you can help us come up with a suitable nickname for Eric Szwarczynski? We'll be seeing the Netherlands quite a few times here at Lord's in the group stage so it would help out quite a bit!

Send us your emails

A few singles from the over keep the "Oranje" ticking over. (Netherlands play in all-orange, hence the nickname).

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, four1:47pm 5th over: Reekers gives himself room for that one and powers Rankin through the on side for four.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, sixThere's the first six of the day! A massive heave from Reekers and he picks Rankin up and up... and into the Grand Stand seats.

A comparatively tame, but well run single for "Eric".

1:43pm 4th over: If, like me, you're wondering, Eric Szwarczynski was born in South Africa - but that is a truly awesome surname... apologies in advance for the inevitable typos - I may just stick to "Eric".

Lords.org commentary icon: New bowler comes onNew bowler for Ireland, Trent Johnston on at the Pavilion End.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, four"Eric" is off the mark at last - an attempted diving catch from Connell misses... and it runs for four.

1:39pm 3rd over: Rankin is showing some good pace. Zuiderant is swinging at everything - playing and missing twice in this over already.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman outHe gets bat on that one but not enough... a straight chip to mid-on.

Netherlands 19-2 - c. West b. Rankin - Zuiderant - 9

1:33pm 2nd over: Eight runs off that first over. Peter Connell will bowl this second over.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman outThere's the first wicket of the warm-up stages of the tournament too. Kervezee holes out to deep square leg for a simple catch.

Netherlands 8-1 - c. Bray b. Connell - Kervezee 5

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, fourA nice start from the new batsman Zuiderant though - quick runs for him. He's settled very quickly, smacking Connell for another four.

1:30pm 1st over: Second-by-second countdown...30, 29, 28...Boyd Rankin will bowl it, Darren Reekers on strike.

First ball of the first match here at Lord's... and it's the first run to Reekers.

Lords.org commentary icon: Batsman scores a boundary, fourAnd there's the first boundary too, Keverzee clipping that one off his legs nicely.

1:26pm For the uninitiated, what is this Twenty20 lark all about? Well, one team bowls 20 overs (an over is six balls) and the other team score as many runs as they possibly can. Then they switch and the other team bowl 20 overs - hence Twenty20.

Two lots of 20 overs and lots of runs and wickets!

The umpires are on the field, the players are getting ready - here we go!

1:21pm Another new addition here at Lord's, the ICC have a countdown clock appearing on the scoreboards - it's apparently counting down to fewer than 10 minutes until the start of the match.

1:10pm The pitch empties as rapidly as it filled up earlier and we're 20 minutes from the start of the match. Hold tight. This Twenty20 action is fast and furious!

1pm A first victory of the day for the Dutch - Netherlands captain Jeroen Smits wins the toss. They're going to bat first.

12:50pm It's not just the players that "warm-up" in these matches it's everyone from the ground staff, the security teams - everthing.

There are lots of changes at The Home of Cricket - traditionalists may not recognise it. There are digital advertising hoardings in front of the Pavilion and banners around the ground declaring "ICC World Twenty20 - Lord's". There's even a DJ on the balcony below the scorer's box. WG Grace would be agog...

Warm-up is definitely needed though there have already been a few teething problems: apparently one of the scorers didn't have the correct accreditation so couldn't get in; and some of the cameramen and women couldn't get to their filming positions until a few minutes ago. We're firing on all cyclinders on Lords.org so stick with us for the best live coverage.

12:48pm The outfield at Lord's is a flurry of activity: from MCC's Head Groundsman, Mick Hunt, to both teams warming up. It's some sprinting drills for the Ireland lads; fielding practice for the Netherlands squad.
