Pakistan win by 38 runs

8:49pm So Pakistan ensure the series will go down to the wire with a deserved 38 run win over England at the Home of Cricket. Gul was simply brilliant at the end there, finishing with 4-32 and he was ably backed up by the spinners and Shoaib.

England will be disappointed they couldn't go on after a great start from Strauss and Davies but conditions were very difficult for batting once the ball had gone soft.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsmen out8:47pm 47th over: Bowled him, it's all over and Pakistan go wild. Another absolute beauty from Gul and Broad is on his way.

England 227 all-out - Broad b. Gul - 2

8:42pm 46th over: A couple of dot balls from Shoaib though he looks like he's struggling more and more from his side problem.

Broad looks like he's struggling to see it, never mind hit any boundaries and he plays out four dots.

There's a single off the penultimate ball and Anderson clips a couple from the final ball. That's the end of Shoaib and he's bowled well, figures of 3-59 for him.

8:34pm 45th over: Two for Swann from the first ball down to deep-square-leg and a single from the next ball to wide long-on, he hit that nicely there though.

That's a wide from Gul, Doctrove spreads his arms for a leg-side delivery.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsmen out Slower one from Gul to Swann, who had backed away, and it crashed into his stumps. Great bowling again from Gul, he really is the master in these situations.

England 224-9 - Swann b. Gul - 12

Gul has now bowled 8-0-3-32, great figures from him and you have to feel it's only a matter of time before this game is wrapped up.

8:26pm 44th over: Shoaib is continuing but he looks in some discomfort, holding his side every ball. Both batsmen get a single to start the over.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsmen out That's the match-winning moment, Morgan went to hammer a low full-toss back over the bowler's head but completely miscued it and Yousuf took the catch at mid-off.

England 211-8 - Morgan c. Yousuf b. Akhtar - 28

Shoaib fires a wide down leg-side and they run a couple as Akmal scrambles and misses it.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four Swann gets a much needed boundary over short-third man, well-batted, using the pace nicely.

Ten off the over for England but the loss of Morgan could be vital.

Lords.org commentary icon - a new bowler8:19pm 43rd over: Umar Gul is the new bowler, replacing Ajmal. The required run-rate is now down below eight.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsmen out Bowled him! Bresnan is gone, a brilliant reverse-swinging full ball which cleans up Bresnan neck and crop, great bowling.

England 205-7 - Bresnan b. Gul - 1

Graeme Swann is the new man in with Stuart Broad also to come. It's going to be hard against this kind of reverse-swinging quality from Gul though.

Swann gets two through mid-wicket, nicely struck. and Afridi drops a very difficult chance low to his right at mid-wicket - they get a single.

Morgan keeps the strike with a miss-hit smear into the leg-side, two powerplay overs left.

Lords.org commentary icon - a new bowler8:10pm 42nd over: Shoaib is back on from the Nursery End. Good start from Yardy, helping a leg-side delivery down the hill for a couple behind square.

The next ball is a wide and this is a risky decision from Afridi.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsmen out It pays off next ball though as Shoaib goes round the wicket and forces Yardy to chop onto his stumps, top bowling.

England 197-6 - Yardy b. Shoaib - 9

So here comes Tim Bresnan and he's almost out second ball, inside-edging one to short fine-leg who's shy at the stumps would have had him run out as he set off blind for a single that wasn't there.

He gets off the mark next ball however, and Shoaib looks to be struggling with a side injury here.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four Five wides! Shoaib bowls a very short bouncer which goes miles over the head of Morgan who tried to ramp it over the keeper. He didn't need to however as it took off miles over Akmal's head.

Morgan get's a single off the last ball.

8:05pm 41st over: Here we go then, England have made a positive call and taken the batting powerplay.

Pakistan have held a bit of a board meeting to talk tactics but will keep Ajmal going with three men out on the leg-side boundary.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a fourEngland get singles from the first two deliveries and as Morgan aims a reverse sweep Akmal is distracted and it runs away for four byes.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four That's a well hit shot from Morgan, getting his front leg out of the way and scything it away though wide long-on for another boundary, well batted.

8:02pm 40th over: Hafeez continues and again England are happy to get singles, they must be pinning their hopes on the batting powerplay which is still to come.

Five runs off the over - all singles of course - and England need 84 from the last 60 balls.

7:59pm 39th over: Ajmal continues to the two left-handers and there is an appeal for a stumping by Akmal against Yardy.

Pakistan don't look too confident though and sure enough the replay confirms that Yardy was behind the line.

7:57pm 38th over: England have stagnated here, the required rate is 7.5 and rising and it's Michael Yardy who has joined Morgan.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsmen out7:51pm 37th over: Bell is gone! Disaster for England.

He skipped down the pitch to Ajmal and middled the ball straight to the substitute fielder Azhar Ali, what a big moment for Pakistan.

England 171-5 - Bell c. sub(Ali) b. Gul - 27

Lords.org commentary icon - a new bowler7:49pm 36th over: Hafeez is back on and Morgan is dropped at shirt-extra-cover by Afridi from the third ball. Morgan struck it well above Afridi's head and, though he got two hands to it, he couldn't cling on.

Was that a match changing moment?

Lords.org commentary icon - a new bowler7:46pm 35th over: Ajmal the new bowler, his third spell and he's back at the Pavilion End.

Still it's singles for Bell and Morgan, they get three from the first four balls and Bell plays and misses at the last delivery as he attempted to work it down to third-man.

7:41pm 34th over: Gul re-exerts some pressure from the Nursery End with some tight bowling.

Afridi is full of energy in the field, running about after almost every ball at the moment and it looks like there were a few words there to Bell from both he and Gul - tense stuff.

Have a look at our photo gallery for pictures from today's match

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four7:37pm 33rd over: Morgan latches onto a wide one from Razzaq and drives him down the slope for four and then runs a leg bye next delivery.

The England innings is following a similar pattern to the Pakistan one. The home side will be hoping that one of their men can play the kind of match-changing innings that Razzaq did for the visitors.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsmen out7:29pm 32nd over: Collingwood looks hopelessly out of sorts and sure enough he doesn't last long, getting clean bowled playing across a full one from Gul.

England 149-4 - Collingwood b. Gul - 4

18 balls that innings took for Collingwood and the run rate required continues to rise as Eoin Morgan joins Bell at the crease.

It's been a quiet series for the Irish born batsman but he's been England's saviour on quite a few occasions in the past and you feel he will have to do so again today if England are to win this match.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four Ian Bell is not looking too bad however, and he takes full advantage of a leg-stump ball from Gul, glancing it down to the Pavilion.

Lords.org commentary icon - a new bowler7:23pm 31st over: This is now a superb match. Lord's looks a picture with the floodlights now in full force and Pakistan are trying to turn the screws now with Ajmal back on from the Pavilion End.

Oh no, they've changed their minds, it's now Razzaq who's going to bowl.

A smartly scampered two for Bell to fine-leg gives him a couple after both he and Collingwood worked singles but Pakistan continue to have a stranglehold on this innings.

Lords.org commentary icon - a new bowler7:17pm 30th over: Gul is called for a no-ball which, by the looks of it, was exceptionally harsh but Collingwood is unable to take advantage of the free-hit, playing and missing outside off-stump.

Huge appeal from Gul against Collingwood, he's convinced it is out! Correct decision though by Kettleborough, the ball clearly going over the top.

Lords.org commentary icon - something spotted7:16pm The umpires are having a word with Afridi about the ball and by the looks of it he's been told to stop his players throwing it in on the bounce to prevent it deteriorating it futher.

7:12pm 29th over: That's nice from Bell, using his feet to work Afridi into a leg-side gap for two from the first ball.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four Much needed boundary from Bell who looks to be continuing his fine form. He played this one almost impossibly late, deliberately nudging it through the empty slip area to the fence.

11 off that over and Bell has made an instant difference.

7:07pm 28th over: This is Pakistan with their tails up, three men converging on Alam at backward-point as he makes an acrobatic stop from a Bell late-dab, good stuff.

7:04pm 27th over: Afridi continues and Pakistan are well on top at the moment, with the rate required edging towards six an over.

Another good one from Afridi with singles again all England can muster.

6:59pm 26th over: Shoaib to the new man Bell, who has made a century in his two previous innings for Warwickshire.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsmen out The game has turned around now! Strauss flashes at a very wide one from Shoaib and Alam takes the catch at backward point.

England 127-3 - Strauss c. Alam b. Shoaib - 68

Two new batsmen together now then for England and Collingwood, back into the side after suffering from a virus, plays and misses at his first delivery.

Late gate tickets are now available for what is likely to be a thrilling finale

6:54pm 25th over: The rate required is at 5.4 now and England have just lost a little bit of momentum since Davies fell.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsmen out Trott is gone now, he didn't look very comfortable all innings and Afridi has managed to get one through him, via inside edge and pad, on the stumps.

England 125-2 - Trott b. Afridi - 4

Funny innings that from Trott who used up 16 balls for his four.

He is replaced by his Warwickshire teammate Ian Bell who survives a half-decent LBW shout first ball, Doctrove correctly saying it would have slid down leg side.

Bell gets off the mark with the last ball of an eventful over, pushing a short ball out to long-off from the back foot.

6:49pm 24th over: Shoaib is continuing and Trott is happy to play himself in at the moment.

Trott has been in marvelous form at Lord's this summer getting his name on the Honours Board twice.

6:47pm 23rd over: Afridi is getting a bit of turn here and with his high arm action he's also extracting some decent bounce so but England are batting with some caution.

Lords.org commentary icon - a new bowler6:42pm 22nd over: Shoaib is back on and this is an interesting move from Afridi, replacing Ajmal after he got the breakthrough last over.

It's a much better over from the 35-year-old who has troubled Trott in this series and continues to do so here, beating him a couple of times.

Another good over from Shoaib, a sharp single to mid-off from Trott the only run from it.

6:39pm 21st over: Jonathan Trott is the new man and he's taking his time as usual to mark out his guard and get settled to face Afridi.

Goodness me, Trott is possibly a little lucky to still be here after getting trapped in front of his stumps by a slightly quicker one. Hawkeye suggests it might have hit the top of leg stump but umpire Doctrove says not out and Trott get's his first run next ball.

Lords.org commentary icon - a new bowler6:33pm 20th over: Ajmal is having a turn from the Nursery End and both bowlers are spinning it against the slope now.

Strauss advances to the third ball and skews one into a gap in the off-side for two.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsmen out Davies falls one short of his half-century, playing onto his stumps with a loose drive. Good innings from Davies but he'll be disappointed not to have reached his second ODI 50.

England 113-1 - Davies b. Ajmal - 49

6:29pm 19th over: Afridi switches to round the wicket and there's a huge appeal for a stumping against Davies, Pakistan look confident but the batsman's foot was just behind the line.

Good fielding by Alam at short-mid wicket forces Strauss to dive back into his crease off the last ball of the over and there was just one single from it.

Afridi is bowling decidedly slower than is usually his want and it's certainly working so far.

6:27pm 18th over: Sun setting magnificently behind the Grandstand; Lord's is going to look a picture when the lights have taken over completely in this, the latest in the summer an international match has ever been played at the Home of Cricket.

Meanwhile on the pitch Hafeez continues to shuffle into bowl and England continue to nudge and nurdle. A definite pattern emerging.

Lords.org commentary icon - drinks6:24pm The players are having a drink and England will be delighted with their efforts so far in this innings.

Lords.org commentary icon - a new bowler6:21pm 17th over: Boom Boom is going to have a bowl from the Pavilion End where Imran Tahir bowled so well for Warwickshire in the Clydesdale Bank 40 Final on Saturday.

The century partnership comes up for the England openers, their first together.

6:18pm 16th over: 17 runs and no boundaries from that second powerplay and this could be the pattern for a little while with England happy to consolidate their rapid start.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four Strauss doesn't miss out on many short wind balls however and he carves this away uppishly for four.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman scores 50Yet another 50 for Strauss who is fast becoming England's most consistent one-day performers; that said, Pakistan have really fed his best shots today.

6:16pm 15th over: Pakistan are rattling through the overs now and it's all gone very quiet around the ground.

Strauss comes down and slogs a single to deep-mid-wicket for a single and they get a couple of easy singles into the vacant mid-wicket area.

6:13pm 14th over: So much for that! Davies is down the wicket to the first ball and aims a big heave towards cow-corner. Still there is only a single though, as he gets a thickish inside-edge down to deep-mid-wicket.

Kettleborough turns down a decent LBW shout and Davies is starting to look a little uncomfortable against the slower stuff.

Lords.org commentary icon - a new bowler6:10pm 13th over: Double change, Ajmal from the Pavilion End and this will be a real test for Strauss and Davies.

Cautious is the best description of England's approach to spin so far, you get the feeling they're happy to be above the rate and will look to just milk the ones and twos for now.

Lords.org commentary icon - a new bowler6:06pm 12th over: This is interesting, with only three men allowed out of the fielding circle, Afridi has thrown the ball to Hafeez, his third spinner.

It's a decent over from Hafeez though and Strauss is extremely fortunate not to be on his way as Hafeez strikes him on the pad. Pakistan are bemused that umpire Kettleborough turned that one down.

Good set though from Hafeez, only four from it.

6:02pm 11th over: Powerplay called by Pakistan and the two left-handers are showing no desire to suspend their assault though on this occasion Gul extracts a tad more bounce and Strauss is beaten.

There were 14 fours in the opening powerplay overs but Gul manages to keep England to three singles in that over to calm things down a little.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four5:57pm 10th over: The England openers are playing very well here, making the most of the powerplay overs and Strauss gets this over underway with a clip cum pull through mid-wicket.

Strauss is lucky here though, calling a quick run to wide mid-on and would have been out had Hafeez hit at the bowlers end.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four Lovely cut for another four by Davies who is very strong through the covers.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four As if to prove my point he gives himself a little bit of room and hammers it away through the same area to go to 34.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four5:52pm 9th over: I'm afraid that's poor from Gul, extremely short and on this slow track Davies has an age to just help it over square-leg and up to the boundary in front of the Grandstand.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four The last ball is another poor short one and Davies gives himself a bit of room in order to cut it away in front of square for another boundary.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four5:47pm 8th over: Razzaq to continue and Strauss gets another boundary to fine-leg, waiting nicely for a leg-stump delivery and glancing it for four.

Good time for England's 50 to come up, Strauss in particular looks in fine fettle though you get the feeling that batting will only get more difficult as the match goes on.

Lords.org commentary icon - a new bowler5:42pm 7th over: Umar Gul, the hero at The Oval, takes over from Shoaib who has been expensive.

Strauss struggles with the change of pace here and is miles too early on a pull which strikes him amidships.

Drama next ball! Strauss edges an expansive cut and Akmal takes a cracking catch but umpire Doctrove has signaled a no-ball, the heavens smiling on the England skipper.

Strauss fails to get anything from the free-hit though, miss-hitting it up to mid-off and there are just two from Gul's first over.

5:38pm 6th over: Razzaq to continue and he's found a nice rhythm here, very much a contrast to Shoaib's pace at the other end.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four Strauss is in no mood to be dictated to however, giving himself room and hitting a cross-batted smear dead straight down the ground for another boundary.

5:33pm 5th over: Oh dear skipper! Strauss drives crisply to Afridi who fields well but aims a poor throw at the bowlers end which Mohammad Yousuf can't back up and England run two.

Blimey that was quick, up at over 95mph and Davies played and missed as it fell away down the slope.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four Genuine edge from Strauss and with no slip in place it races away to the fence. Shoaib's extra pace can sometimes prove to his disadvantage.

Lords.org commentary icon - a maiden over, six balls without any runs scored5:29pm 4th over: Ugly heave from Davies, giving himself some room to try and hit it over cover but doesn't get anywhere near it.

A really good over from Razzaq there, stemming the flow of runs a bit and causing Davies a few problems to boot.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four5:23pm 3rd over: Very easy for Strauss, he just leans back and drives Shoaib to the cover boundary this time. Shoaib reacts by switching to over the wicket.

A single for Strauss from the fourth ball, Shoaib straying onto his hips and he clips it down to deep-backward-square.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four Poor from Shoaib, he has no fine-leg and Davies just uses the pace to steer it to the fence.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four Four more but that's a bit streaky! Shorter from Shoaib and Davies gets an inside edge past Akmal who is helpless to prevent the boundary.

5:19pm 2nd over: Pakistan's hero with the bat, Razzaq is opening up from the Nursery End.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four Razzaq is bowling with fine-leg up in the circle and Davies makes the most of it to get off the mark, stepping inside the ball and clipping it away to the boundary.

No slips already for Pakistan, their two catchers are both on the leg-side. Already pinning their hopes on the spinners?

5:14pm 1st over: Shoaib Akhtar to open up from the Pavilion End, and the England skipper Andrew Strauss is on strike. Here we go.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four Great start for Strauss, he leans back and plays his favourite cut shot to the cover boundary from the first delivery.

Good come back from Shoaib though, and there is a half appeal for caught behind when he goes past the edge of the England skipper.

Lords.org commentary icon - a batsman hits a four But you can't give Strauss width and the next delivery is cut away for a second four of the opening over to the Mound Stand boundary.

5:10pm: The bell has been rung and Pakistan have just emerged from their pre-innings huddle.

And here come the England openers, Strauss and Davies.

5:05pm: Pakistan are back out on the field warming up ahead of the England innings here. They know that Razzaq's cameo at the end has given them a really good chance here.

4:30pm: What an end to the innings by Razzaq! Fantastically entertaining batting. Pakistan have raced to 265-7 now, rather changing the complexion of the match.

That's an imposing total for England to chase now.

Lords.org commentary icon - the bowling team bring on a new bowler4:25pm 50th over: Last over of the innings - Bresnan will bowl it.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsFour more for Razzaq from the first ball of Bresnan's over - shot through the covers. 28 runs from 16 balls for Razzaq.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsFour more for Razzaq - a fraction short from Bresnan and Razzaq is batting brilliantly. Brings up 250 for Pakistan too.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsGoodness me - it's another boundary four! Razzaq is flashing the bat and Bresnan doesn't seem to know where to bowl to him.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsNot there either... Bresnan tries to bowl a fuller line and Razzaq takes it on the full - four more runs!

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsAnd as if there was any another way he was going to finish the innings... it's another four. Razzaq ends on 44 runs too, appropriately, from just 20 balls.

Pakistan 265-7

Lords.org commentary icon - four runs4:20pm 49th over: Penultimate over of the match. First ball of it and Razzaq clubs that one away for four runs.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsNext ball and he repeats the dose! Great shot from Razzaq, taking it on the half-volley to whip it away into the off-side for a successive boundary four.

Lords.org commentary icon - six runsAnother dropped catch... in the crowd though. Razzaq clubs that one into the Compton Stand for six!

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsFour more! Nineteen runs from the over so far. Razzaq going wild! So are the Pakistan fans in the crowd and well they might.

Twenty one runs from that over.

4:16pm 48th over: Another good over from Broad - England's bowlers really tightening things up in the batting power-play.

4:12pm 47th over: Gul off the mark at last, with a rapidly run single.

Decent over from Anderson - just four runs from it.

4:05pm 46th over: An update on that MCC Member injured 'by' that six from Afridi. Word is the gentleman fell whilst attempting to catch it and bumped his nose that one. Either way, it looks sore!

Lords.org commentary icon - batsman outUmar caught out by another short one from Broad and can only loop it into the air. Wicket-keeper Davies has a gentle stroll after it and takes a simple catch.

Pakistan 210-7 - U. Akmal c. Davies b. Broad - 21

Umar Gul is the next batsman in.

Enjoying the cricket? Wish you could be here? Just about to finish work? There are late gate tickets available this afternoon:

Late gate tickets

After 25 overs of the second innings, tickets will be available for for £20 for adults; free for under-16s.

They will be available at the North Gate in Wellington Place, on a first come, first served basis. Under-16s must collect a 'free' ticket before entering the ground.

Lords.org commentary icon - the bowling team bring on a new bowler4pm 45th over: And back comes Bresnan too, taking over from Anderson at the Nursery End.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsman outAfridi swings the bat again another one sent way, way up... and it's Andrew Strauss who steadies himself under it and takes a comfortable catch. 'Boom-Boom' is gone.

Pakistan 209-6 - Afridi c. Strauss b. Bresnan - 37

Abdul Razzaq the new man in.

Lords.org commentary icon - the bowling team bring on a new bowler3:55pm 44th over: Broad back on again, re-replacing Bresnan at the Pavilion End, if that makes sense?

Better from Broad - certainly not getting carved around the ground by Afridi as he was earlier.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runs3:51pm 43rd over: Four for Umar now, who must have been feeling almost left out with the rapid-scoring of his captain.

Anderson offering rather too much height and width again and Umar clipping it away smartly.

Umar gets right under that one and it goes, way, way up into the sky over Lord's. Three fielders close in on it but it's Trott who tries to take the catch... but it drops through his outstretched hands. Umar escapes. 200-up for Pakistan.

Lords.org commentary icon - the bowling team bring on a new bowler3:45pm 42nd over: Another bowling change - Bresnan on for Broad.

He tries a slower ball and it's rather wide. It has Umar fishing at it rather wildly but missing.

Lords.org commentary icon - six runsShort a loose from Bresnan and another gift for Afridi, gladly accepted. He turns and hoiks it over the rope - six!

Lords.org commentary icon - the bowling team bring on a new bowler3:39pm 41st over: Ten overs left and Pakistan look to be on their way to a good total.

James Anderson is back in the attack too - rapid seam bowling at both ends now.

Lords.org commentary icon - something spottedLooks like Afridi was hurt by that one. It whacked into his gloves and the skipper appears to have hurt his hand. It looks like it's the index finger on his right hand too, which would be crucial for his bowling in England's innings.

Afridi's batting on. He's clearly in some discomfort though, taking off his gloves at every opportunity.

Lords.org commentary icon - the bowling team bring on a new bowler3:30pm 40th over: Stuart Broad returns to the England attack. He'll bowl from the Pavilion End - where an MCC Member is being attended to by the Pavilion Stewards.

The poor chap appears to have taken that massive six from Afridi right between the eyes. Ouch.

A unusual spell of play there - Umar dropped that one almost at his feet and set off for a run... the ball trundled back, slowly and actually hit the wicket but didn't dislodge the bails.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsNext ball - a big swing from Afridi, edged and it flashes wide of wicket-keeper Davies and runs for four.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsAnother boundary four for Afridi. A little short from Broad and the tourists' skipper pounces on the chance to swing his bat again.

The volume at Lord's picks up another notch.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runs3:30pm 39th over: Four more runs for Afridi, met with a huge wave of noise from the Pakistan fans here at Lord's. He's great 'box office' the Pakistan skipper.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsman out3:24pm 38th over: First ball back after the break and Swann has his fourth wicket. He's cleaned Fawad up with one that shot through and breaks the wicket.

Pakistan 155-5 - Alam b. Swann - 29

The skipper, Afridi, is the new man in - and first ball he tries to sweep Swann who has a loud appeal for LBW... turned down.

Lords.org commentary icon - six runsBoom-boom from Afridi! He gallops down the pitch and fires that one from Swann onto the second floor of the Pavilion! Great shot.

Swann is gesticulating at his team-mates - he's unhappy about something... probably being hit for six!

Lords.org commentary icon - drinks break3:21pm: That's another drinks break. Pakistan are 155-4. Fawad's on 29*; Umar's 5*.

3:19pm 37th over: Collingwood continues to be a useful, nagging bowler from the Nursery End. He's not terribly rapid and doesn't find much turn but the batsmen can't work him away.

3:15pm 36th over: A single for Alam brings up 150 for Pakistan - from 213 deliveries.

Swann bowling intelligently again - that one zips back past Alam, who is cursing himself for not getting bat on that one.

Then an extraordinary shot from Alam - he leaned so far down the pitch to get that one he was playing it with his head down almost looking back at his own back leg. The ball hit him on the head!

Lords.org commentary icon - the bowling team bring on a new bowler3:11pm 35th over: England turn to Paul Collingwood, back in the side today after illness. He'll bowl from the Nursery End, replacing Bresnan.

That one skips past everything - it nicked the pad and raced up the hill towards the Pavilion. Stuart Broad cuts that off though - a great effort. The batsmen run three.

3:08pm 34th over: The left-handed Alam tries to work Swann into the leg side but sharp work from Bresnan and Strauss cuts off that route to runs.

3:04pm 33rd over: Umar Akmal is the new man in. Bresnan continues from the Nursery End.

Lords.org commentary icon - Lords.org spot something...Bresnan and Umar 'bump into' one another half-way down the pitch there. Andrew Strauss comes across for a quick word with the pair of them.

Umar also having a chat to umpire Richard Kettleborough.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsman out2:59pm 32nd over: Another wicket for Swann. Hafeez tried to hit him back over his head - he swung the bat and was looking towards the Allen Stand... in fact the ball had looped off in the opposite direction and Trott takes a straightforward catch.

Pakistan 137-4 - Hafeez c. Trott b. Swann - 64

Interesting stat - Swann's three wickets have all come from the fifth ball of the over.

Lords.org commentary icon - the bowling team bring on a new bowler2:54pm 31st over: Tim Bresnan returns to the attack, at the Nursery End again, replacing Yardy.

2:52pm 30th over: A couple of scares for Alam - first he's beaten by a quicker ball from Swann; then he's almost on the way for a risky single before quick work from Strauss has him scurrying back just in time.

2:49pm 29th over: Five men back outside the circle for this over from Yardy, England trying to restrict the scoring.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsIt doesn't work though! Hafeez plays a lovely stroke, dancing down the wicket to swing that one away through the leg-side - four runs his reward.

Lords.org commentary icon - half century2:45pm 28th over: Two more runs for Hafeez takes him to 51 - an impressive half-century for the opener. Well played.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsFour more runs for Hafeez, he reaches forward for that one which pitched outside off, no real power in that one but a well-timed boundary four.

2:41pm 27th over: No boundaries for a while - Yardy and Swann slowing Pakistan down somewhat in the middle overs of their innings.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsI spoke too soon - Yardy sends down a short and wide delivery and Fawad more than happy to carve that one up the Lord's slope for four runs.

A single for Hafeez has him edging closer to his half century.

2:39pm 26th over: Swann pinning Alam back in his crease with one that shot on at him off the pitch. A good spell from the Nottinghamshire man - fresh from celebrating his county's LV County Championship win no doubt.

2:36pm 25th over: Alam brings up the 100 for Pakistan with a single. They've got there from 150 deliveries (including a wide). Two sixes in that mix too.

2:34pm 24th over: We wouldn't want to curse him, so early in his innings, but Fawad Alam looking calm and assured at the crease, as he has throughout most of this tour.

2:30pm 23rd over: Graeme Swann heartily applauded back to his place in the field after that last over - two wickets to the popular spinner's name.

Yardy wheels through another over with more 1s and 2s scored.

2:26pm 22nd over: Yousuf doffs his cap to his partner, Hafeez, after calling for an almost suicical run there before being sent back. Safe to say that running between the wickets is not the experienced campaigner's strength.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsman outYousuf's gone next ball though! More great spin bowling from Swann and some rapid work behind the stumps by Davies snaffles the catch which feathered the edge of the bat.

Pakistan 94-3 - Yousuf c. Davies b. Swann - 3

2:23pm 21st over: Pakistan scoring at just over 4 runs an over at the moment. Neither batsman can really get hold of Yardy's bowling but a succession of singles from the over.

Lords.org commentary icon - the bowling team bring on a new bowler2:18pm 20th over: Slow bowling from both ends now as England bring on Graeme Swann at the Pavilion End.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsman outA wicket in his first over (again!) for Swann - pitched outside off, turned and cleans up Asad.

Pakistan 86-2 - Asad b. Swann - 11

Mohammad Yousuf the new man in for Pakistan. The veteran batting in a cap against Swann - and scores a single from the first ball he faces.

2:15pm 19th over: Hafeez placed that well, beating the man in the covers but Bresnan cuts it off near the rope before it makes four - an effort warmly applauded by the bowler, Yardy.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsThat one does make it to the boundary rope, despite a long chase by James Anderson. Hafeez brushed that off his pads, down the leg side and scores four.

2:07pm 18th over: Yardy and Broad slow the scoring rate slightly - Pakistan are 77-1 as we stop for a drinks break.

Lords.org commentary icon - drinks breakHafeez 34* and Asad 6*.

England will be pleased to have taken a wicket but Pakistan are looking relatively comfortable at the moment.

Lords.org commentary icon - the bowling team bring on a new bowler2:04pm 17th over: England turn to spin - Michael Yardy replaces Anderson. The Sussex man will bowl his left-arm slow deliveries from the Nursery End.

A chance from the fourth ball of the over - Hafeez tried to thrash Yardy back past the bowler but he stuck out a hand and the ball almost stuck... but goes down.

2pm 16th over: Broad looks enlivened by that wicket he took in his last over. He rips down another short-pitched delivery and has a little glare at Hafeez from the end of his follow through.

1:56pm 15th over: Strauss has a long chat to Anderson before this over. No men back on the boundary down the ground, they're all square to or behind the wicket.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsAsad faces his first ball and adds four leg byes to the total from it as Anderson drifts a little too far on to the leg side.

Lords.org commentary icon - something spotted1:50pm 14th over: Kamran Akmal steps around one from Broad and then looks furiously towards the boundary - 12th man Wahab Riaz trotting around the boundary behind the bowlers' arm distracting the batsman.

Lords.org commentary icon - batsman outBroad fires one in quite short, Kamran is on to that far too quickly and just balloons a catch up to Andrew Strauss. Out.

Pakistan 62-1 - K. Akmal c. Strauss b. Broad - 28

Shafiq the new man in. Kamran walks off still gesturing at the dressing room. He won't be happy with Riaz. That distracting walk the bowler took around the boundary came the ball before Kamran's dismissal.

1:45pm 13th over: James Anderson's first big appeal of the day - that one definitely zipped back off the pitch at Hafeez... but the umpire says no. TV replays show the umpire was spot on too. It was missing down the leg side.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsAnderson goes for four more runs this time, Hafeez stepping into that one, opened his shoulders and smashed it away to the boundary, one bounce, four.

Lords.org commentary icon - Lords.org spot something...1:41pm 12th over: Ajmal Shazhad on the field for a few moments - Graeme Swann the man who went off, one hopes for a 'comfort' break not an injury.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsAnother boundary for Pakistan, Kamran this time, cutting Broad down towards the Grand Stand. Good shot.

Lords.org commentary icon - the bowling team bring on a new bowler1:37pm 11th over: Anderson returns to the attack, he's replaced Bresnan at the Nursery End.

A stifled appeal from Anderson, still some 'nip' there for the seam bowlers but the batsmen still looking fairly comfortable.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsA front-foot punch shot from Hafeez, pierces the fielders in the circle and runs away for four. Fifty up for Pakistan.

Lords.org commentary icon - six runs1:33pm 10th over: Wow, six more! That one from Hafeez, flicking Broad effortlessly into the stand! Some Pakistan fans on their feet!

Definite movement out there for the bowlers though - Broad pitched that one outside off and 'keeper Steven Davies caught it way over on the leg side.

1:29pm 9th over: Still Bresnan at the Nursery End and he has Kamran playing and missing again but still no edge for England.

Lords.org commentary icon - six runsLots of bat on that one! Kamran steps out to give himself some room and absolutely batters that one - over the rope, six!

Lords.org commentary icon - the bowling team bring on a new bowler1:24pm 8th over: England's first bowling change of the day sees Stuart Broad replace James Anderson at the Pavilion End.

Both batsmen take singles during the over - Pakistan trotting along at around three runs an over at the moment.

1:21pm 7th over: Bresnan perseveres from the Nursery End. The Yorkshireman is bowling a decent line without much reward.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runs1:18pm 6th over: Anderson bowling with good variety, that one kept very low on Kamran who just got his bat down in time and it squirted away, just wide of Swann at second slip and raced away for four.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runs1:13pm 5th over: Kamran gets his first boundary of the day from the first ball of this over from Bresnan, down to the fine leg boundary.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runsFour more for Kamran, square of the wicket this time but beating the man positioned there. Four more runs to his total.

1:11pm 4th over: High and wide from Anderson but Kamran has a swing at it misses and then rehearses the stroke he meant to play a few times instead. An expensive over from Bresnan.

A beauty from Anderson to close the over - that one speared through Kamran's defences but beat everything - including the stumps.

Lords.org commentary icon - four runs1:06pm 3rd over: First boundary of the day - from the bat of Hafeez, turning to clip a loose one from Bresnan off his hips and away to the leg-side boundary.

Fourth ball of the over and Bresnan has Hafeez playing and missing again.

1:02pm 2nd over: James Anderson will bowl first from the Pavilion End.

Second ball and the 'Burnley Bullet' has Hafeez jumping with one that nips back and hits him high on the pads. First run off the bat for Hafeez from the fourth ball of the over.

1pm 1st over: Looks like it'll be Tim Bresnan opening the bowling, from the Nursery End. Andrew Strauss having a good chat to him before the match starts.

First ball of the match is a dot ball. First run of the day, from the third delivery of the over - Kamran Akmal takes a single.

Bresnan beats Hafeez with a good delivery - but next ball the opener is off the mark too - then again... that was given as a leg bye.

12:57pm: Umpires Richard Kettleborough (who was here for the CB40 Final on Saturday) and Billy Doctrove walk out onto the field, closely followed by the England team who go directly into a huddle.

Here come the Pakistan batsmen too, Kamran Akmal and Mohammad Hafeez.

12:55pm: The five minute bell tolls... and we'll be underway with all the action direct from Lord's, as it happens.

12:48pm: And the field is empty again now, bar BBC Test Match Special's Jonathan Agnew reporting for the programme near the boundary rope.

Just two stewards guarding the pitch keeping him company.

12:36pm: England team changes as expected, CB40 Final hero Ian Bell is parachuted from winning the trophy with Warwickshire, direct into the England ODI line-up.

Paul Collingwood, who missed the match at the Oval through illness, is back into the side in place of Luke Wright.

Pakistan are, unsurprisingly, unchanged from their victory at The Oval.

12:33pm: Pakistan win the toss and opt to bat.

12:27pm: A swarm of players, officials and the media on the outfield now.

12pm: Good afternoon now. An hour until the first ball of the day. You can get all the action here, as it happens.

Breaking News: Ryan Sidebottom has announced his retirement from international cricket.

Bit of a surprise that, the mop-haired left-arm seamer was/is in the England one-day squad for this series.

Meanwhile, players from both sides on the immaculate looking outfield at Lord's warming-up.
