Day Four
3:13pm: That pretty much wraps up our live coverage of the match. Thanks so much for following it with us. Do send us your feedback on the coverage: Live@Lords.org - we can always improve but only if you tell us how.
The next match we're covering live is England v Pakistan from 26-30 August. Tickets still available for that one too: www.lords.org/tickets.

Re-retired: Shahid Afrid announced his imminent Test retirement after the match
- click for more photos 3:06pm: The weather has impeccable timing at last - the match is over and the rain has started again - not much of it though.
Presentation podium on the pitch. Man-of-the-match? North or Watson? Katich outside chance?
The award has gone to Salman Butt - he did bat very well in both innings for Pakistan as, generally, the batting collapsed around him.
No, wait that was the Pakistan man-of-the-match, each team are getting an award. Simon Katich for his 80 & 83 gets the Australia award.
3:04pm: We've updated the online version of our neutral Lord's Honours Boards - Marcus North on there alongside Shane Watson - both for their bowling.
I doubt you'd have even got odds, nevermind long odds, on that happening before this match.
3:02pm: An understandably subdued Shahid Afrid has just told BBC Test Match Special that his next Test (at Headingley) will be his last Test.
He's also nominated Salman Butt as his successor. Interesting.
2:53pm: Warm applause for North as he walks off with the match ball. Well played.
A generous ovation for umpire Rudi Koertzen, this was his penultimate Test and his last at Lord's. His last ever match as an official will be the second of this series at Headingley.
Australia understandably delighted, they've set a new record too - 13 straight wins against the same opposition.
2:49pm 91st over: It's all over. A sixth wicket for North - he'll be delighted to best Shane Watson!
Kaneria shovels a catch to Ricky Ponting a cover, two catches in a row for the skipper who must take a great deal of credit for some smart leadership.
Pakistan 289 all out - Kaneria c. Ponting b. North 2
Australia win by 150 runs
2:43pm 90th over: Smith's got the ninth wicket. Umar Gul dangles the bat at that one and just binks a simple catch to Ricky Ponting.
Pakistan 287-9 - Gul c. Ponting b. Smith - 1
2:39pm 89th over: Two new batsmen at the crease now, both on nought. End is nigh for Pakistan, surely.
2:34pm 88th over: A lot air on that one from Amir but it plops into the gap between fielders. That one may have looked more at home at St. Andrews!
Another wicket - and North has his five-for. Extraordinary. Amir slogs it straight to the fielder. Out.
Pakistan 285-8 - Amir c. Hussey b. North - 19
North's name will be on here: neutral Lord's Honours Boards soon.
2:31pm 87th over: Ponting adjusts his fielders again and it's enough to distract Kamran - Smith's bowled him!
Pakistan 283-7 - Kamran Akmal b. Smith - 46
2:26pm 86th over: North continues from the Nursery End, a clutch of men still crowding around the bat.
2:23pm 85th over: That was just wide of the man near the boundary but Kamran hit it so hard he wasn't going to stop it. Four.
That's the fifty partnership between these two as well.
2:20pm 84th over: Two slips, a short-leg and a silly point all crowding around Amir for this over from North. Nothing much doing - new ball coming soon one suspects.
2:17pm 83rd over: Four more for Kamran, sending the close-in fielders into self-defensive mode as he drills that one through the covers.
2:14pm 82nd over: The Pakistan batsmen keeping the Aussie fielders on their toes, some smart shots but some good stops in the field prevent any boundaries.
I stand corrected - a good slide from Doug Bollinger but he was just touching the rope when he fielded that one. Four runs awarded.
2:12pm: A quick drinks break. Just four wickets left for Pakistan, still 181 runs needed.
2:08pm 81st over: Smith through another over - no sign of the new ball yet.
2:06pm 80th over: Four runs for Amir, the first boundary for more than 10 overs. New ball will be on offer soon.
2:02pm 79th over: Smith continues from the Pavilion End, drying his hand on the now rather dusty pitch from time to time. Nothing to really trouble the batsmen.
2pm 78th over: Mitchell Johnson stretching and warming up again - he may be back on shortly. North still on at the Nursery End though.
1:56pm 77th over: The full-time spinner, Steve Smith comes on. The part-timer, North, has wreaked havoc on the Pakistan batting line-up, what can Smith do?
A comfortably run two brings up 250 for Pakistan.
1:54pm 76th over: Five men, including the 'keeper, around the bat for this over from North. He cannot say Ricky Ponting isn't giving him a fair crack at getting his five-for.
1:50pm 75th over: A maiden from Johnson, the batsmen definitely trying to consciously slow the pace.
1:48pm 74th over: Another over from North who looks to have rather lost his fire a little - although he wasn't looking that dangerous just before he took four wickets!
1:43pm 73rd over: Johnson still charging from the Pavilion End but to little effect.
1:40pm 72nd over: Kamran all over that one, a dainty dance down the pitch and 'crack' right out of the middle of the bat. Six!
The Pakistan batsmen trying to reign in their attacking instincts.
1:38pm 71st over: This is quite odd. Mitchell Johnson - a 90mph+ bowler - looks by far the less likely bowler to take wickets, with Marcus North at the other end.
1:35pm 70th over: North trundles through another over, he must be dreaming of the Lord's Honours Boards. Who'd have thought it?
1:29pm 69th over: Johnson continues at the Pavilion End - he must feel a tinge of envy at the clutch of wickets North is taking!
1:19pm 68th over: Make that three wickets for North, he's working wonders today.
Kamran Akmal pushes forward at that one and turns a very sharp catch to Simon Katich - great catch from the opener at short-leg.
Pakistan 227-5 - Umar Amin c. Katich b. North - 33
Here comes Shahid Afridi - this sould be entertaining!
Four balls later and Afridi is on his way back to the dressing room. He absolutely threw the lot at that one and it went high, high into the air... Mike Hussey takes a towering catch just in front of the rope.
Pakistan 227-6 - Afridi c. Hussey b. North - 2
Four wickets now for Marcus North.
1:19pm 67th over: The first four after lunch, Kamran Akmal scoring them from a wider delivery from Johnson.
That's four more for Akmal, guiding it wide of the slips. Johnson not enjoying this much.

Marcus North celebrates the wicket of Umar Akmal
- click for more photos 1:15pm 66th over: The Marcus North experiment continues - surely even Ponting didn't expect him to take two wickets today?
1:11pm 65th over: Mitchell Johnson continues from the Pavilion End too - no bowling changes from Australia after lunch. Just one run from the over.
1:10pm 64th over: Marcus North completes the three balls of his over curtailed by Umar's dismissal, no runs from them.
1:08pm: As the players back on the field we've got the late gate news:

12:32pm: That wicket brings on the lunch break. Umar Akmal's lunch may well taste a little bitter after he rather gave away his wicket.
Pakistan 216-4 at lunch
12:28pm 64th over: Part-time bowler North has got another one!
Careless from Umar Akmal and really not what Pakistan needed, the last ball before lunch and he flashed the bat at it and gave a simple catch to Clarke at slip.
Pakistan 216-4 - Umar Akmal c. Clarke b. North - 22
12:26pm 63rd over: Johnson continues from the Pavilion End. This may be the last over before lunch, perhaps one more after this if he's quick.
A maiden from Johnson and he leaves time for one more over too.
12:22pm 62nd over: Umar is batting like Afridi! He throws the bat at that one and thunders it down the ground again - just for four this time.
12:18pm 61st over: Mitchell Johnson replaces Bollinger at the Pavilion End as we near the lunch interval.
12:14pm 60th over: That's almost disdainful from Umar, he climbed into that one from North and absolutely clobbered it back over the bowler's head - six!
12:11pm 59th over: Umar is warming to his task nicely, pulling that one for four more runs - bringing 200 up for Pakistan.
12:07pm 58th over: North's second over doesn't have quite the same impact as his first - respectfully watchful from the batsmen but no real danger there.
12:01pm 57th over: Bollinger charging in from the Nursery End the new batsman, Umar, on strike - taking an almost Katich-like step across his stumps as the ball comes in.
A lot of forearm power in that one, Umar blasted that one away for four runs.
11:56am 56th over: A change of bowling - it's part-time spinner Marcus North coming on at the Nursery End.
He's got Salman Butt with his first ball! The ball whipped past Butt on the leg-side and a fantastic bit of glove-work by Tim Paine removes the bails!
Pakistan 186-3 - Butt st. Paine b. North - 92
Umar Akmal the new batsman - he disappointed, scoring only five in the first innings. He owes his team a few runs.
11:53am 55th over: Amin gives that one a bit of air, Steve Smith is leaping to try and catch it, but it's over him and off to the boundary for four.
11:45am 54th over: For the second time in the match, just as the players reach the Pavilion steps, the rain stops and back they all come again! Watson will bowl the 54th over.
Amin clips the first ball of the over off his hips - four runs. Ricky Ponting adjusting his fielders - again.
It makes no odds to Amin though, third ball of the over and that's a sweetly timed drive, though the fielders four.
Rinse and repeat! Another attractive looking front foot drive from Amin and another four runs. Lovely shot.
11:38am 53rd over: Hilfenhaus back on the field for this over from Bollinger. Pretty close the 15-minute limit that may have barred Hilfenhaus from bowling again for another 15 minutes or so.
Bouncer from Butt who rocks right back on his haunches to avoid that one. Followed by another one - a little 'eye contact' between Butt and Bollinger after that one.
A third bouncer and Butt, once again, tilts back out of the way.
And a fourth bouncer concludes that over - just as the rain arrives. The players dash off. Rain stops play: Pakistan 169-2.
11:34am 52nd over: Ponting sends his fielders whirling around the outfield again, constantly adjusting things.
Just two runs from the over.
11:31am: Drinks break after the first hour of play. Australia have one of the nine wickets they needed at the start of the day; Pakistan have added 50 runs in their quest for another 326.
11:27am 51st over: Hilfenhaus is replaced at the Pavilion End - Doug Bollinger on in his stead.
Loose from Bollinger, Butt clips that off his toes for a seemingly effortless four. His score moves into the 90s.
11:23am 50th over: That said, during this Watson over, Hilfenhaus has jogged off the field. 12th man on for Australia.
11:18am 49th over: Hilfenhaus feels well enough to continue his spell from the Pavilion End - Ricky Ponting having another good pre-over chat to his bowler.
Hilfenhaus gets through that over well, his shoulder injury clearly not that bad, thankfully.
11:14am 48th over: From good news to bad news for Australia - Hilfenhaus makes a great diving stop but he landed very heavily and looks hurt.
He's on his feet again but he looks sore, the physio is trotting around the boundary to tend to him. It looks like he's hurt his shoulder, which has troubled him before.
Shane Watson continues to bowl this over. New batsman Umar Amin off the mark with a single.
11:08am 47th over: Three slips and a gully in place for this Hilfenhaus over, pretty attacking from Australia, as well they might be given they still lead by more then 280 runs.
It's the 'keeper, Tim Paine, who takes that one though and Azhar is out! A great, late-swinging delivery from Hilfenhaus and Azhar clips an edge to the delighted Paine.
Pakistan 152-2 - Azhar c. Paine b. Hilfenhaus - 42
A wicket maiden for Hilfenhaus, very good bowling.
11:02am 46th over: Ponting shuffling his fielders around after almost every ball of this over. Three on the off side especially doing a little dance of in again, out again.
10:59am 45th over: Another long Ponting-chat with a bowler, Hilfenhaus the recipient this time, both men pointing wildly around the field, positioning their colleagues.
Two runs for Butt bring up 150 for Pakistan, making this a 100-run partnership too. The target still more than 280 runs away.
10:55am 44th over: First bowling change of the day and it's the neutral Lord's Honours Boards man, Shane Watson coming on.
Butt welcomes him to the attack, clipping that one off his pads for four from Watson's first ball of the day.
Watson and Butt have a little staring contest at the end of the over - could be interesting. Butt got under Bollinger's skin yesterday too.
10:50am 43rd over: That was the first close call of the day for Pakistan - Azhar got a leading edge on that but it skipped up over the slips and runs all the way to the boundary.
That one was fully intended but runs to nearly the same point on the bouundary rope with the same number of runs added to the score.
10:46am 42nd over: Ricky Ponting having a long chat to Johnson before this over, he'll want a better line from his bowler in this over.
Butt plays another great shot. A rather limp delivery from Johnson, lacking any real pace and the Pakistan vice-captain drills it away into the off side for another four.
And again. But's score races into the 70s. He absolutely hammered that one, no fielder was getting near that one.
10:42am 41st over: Azhar gets his first boundary of the day. Hilfenhaus drifted slightly towards his pads but Azhar moves his feet well to push that one to the boundary. Four.
10:39am 40th over: Butt swings and misses resulting in a half-hearted appeal from the Australia slips.
Butt gets it right with the next ball, cutting it hard for four. Good shot.
Wayward and wide again from Johnson and Butt gladly accepts the invitation to cut it away for another four.
10:35am 39th over: Ben Hilfenhaus continues from the Pavilion End.
Another maiden over - Butt and Azhar taking their time.
Your emailsSafwan has emailed us:
"I think on paper aussies are favourites for this match.
"Just one breakthorough can lead to whole batting colapse for Pakistan but the Pakistan team is always unredictable thats the beauty of this cricket nation, on the day they can do anything.
"So my brain says Australia and heart says Pakistan so lets see which is right!"
Neatly summed up I think Safwan. If there's a team that could knock off 326 in a day to win Pakistan may just be that team - but then a collapse for under 200 isn't unthinkable either!
Should be a cracking day of Test cricket. Tell us what you think: Live@Lords.org
10:29am 38th over: The Australia players gambol onto the outfield and here come Azhar and Butt for Pakistan too.
We'll start things off with the 38th over of Pakistan's second innings. They resumse on 114-1. Butt on strike first. Mitchell Johnson taking off his sweater at the Nursery End, looks like he'll bowl first.
A maiden over to start with too.
10:25am: Shane Warne rings the five minute bell - the hover-cover buzzes off again, stumps in and we're set for a 10:30am start.
10:21am: Stumps out, hover-cover buzzes into action as the drizzle becomes rain.
It's very windy though, this looks like a very fleeting passing shower.
10:13am: Weather still set fair - breeze picking up a bit. Play due to start in about 15 minutes. We'll have all the action for you, right here.
Let us know how you think (or hope!) the match will pan out today. Australia need nine wickets; Pakistan need 326 runs. Who is your money on?
10:02am: Bowling practice now for Ben Hilfenhaus, Mitchell Johnson and the like. Pakistan's players are in the MCC Indoor Cricket School and on the Nursery Ground nets.
9:45am: The Australia team are having a warm-up stroll around the outfield, soaking up the special ambience of Lord's.
The trusty weather forecasting device, known as Head Groundsman Mick Hunt's clothing is set fair. Mick's in shorts and even has sunglasses on - it must be sunny.
9:22am: There are still tickets available for today, if you fancy watching a cracking day of cricket.

The sun is out at Lord's 9:11am: Good morning. We're sure you'll be anxious to hear about the weather news.
Lord's is looking lovely. The sun is out, there's a fairly strong breeze and the groundstaff are giving the outfield a final, neatening trim - using one of the world's squeakiest lawn mowers by the sound of things!
Day Three
6:41pm: That's the close of play:
Pakistan 114-1 at close of play
Pakistan still a rather enormous looking 325 runs behind Australia's total but they'll be pretty pleased with the way they batted today.
We'll be back again tomorrow - join us then, it should be another cracking day of Test cricket at Lord's.
6:38pm 37th over: The last over of the day and a single for Azhar from the penultimate ball of it.
Then with the last ball Hilfenhaus has a loud appeal for LBW but umpire Koertzen utterly unmoved.
6:33pm 36th over: Pakistan visit 111 runs 'Nelson' an unlucky score for Englishmen. 87 is the Australia equivalent; no idea what's considered unlucky in Pakistan.
Either way, they're not on it for long a single for Azhar and they're on 112 now.
6:29pm 35th over: Good delivery from Hilfenhaus, the slower ball almost tricking Salman Butt.
6:27pm 34th over: Four men plus the 'keeper around the bat for this over from Smith. The batsmen see it off though.
6:22pm 33rd over: Hilfenhaus perseveres from the Pavilion End but Azhar and Butt look well set now.
6:19pm 32nd over: Some detailed guidance from Ricky Ponting to his young spinner, Smith, before this over. Just two more runs from it, both to Azhar.
6:15pm 31st over: A maiden over from Hilfenhaus, good bowling from the seamer.
6:12pm 30th over: Neat and tidy again from Smith. Azhar runs a very rapid two to make this partnership worth fifty runs which also brings up 100 runs for Pakistan.
6:09pm 29th over: Bollinger replaced at the Pavilion End, Ben Hilfenhaus comes on again.
Standing in the slips, Shane Watson is performing some stretches between deliveries too. He may be called upon to bowl soon.
6:05pm 28th over: That four in the last over for Butt takes him to 49, nearing his second half century of the match. Steve Smith still on at the Nursery End.
There is the fifty, a neat clip and Butt runs two. Loud cheers around Lord's for the Pakistan vice-captain, a good innings.
6:01pm 27th over: Michael Clarke having a chat to Bollinger at the top of his run-up.
Another boundary for Butt from Bollinger, clipped away into the leg side - warm applause around Lord's.
Poor line again from Bollinger and Butt repeats the stroke, another clip into the leg side for another four runs.
5:57pm 26th over: Another frugal over from Smith - just two runs from it.
5:53pm 25th over: Bollinger keen to get at Butt again in this over. Rather predictably the first ball is a bouncer. Butt expected it too and ducks out of the way.
Butt seems to have unsettled Bollinger - short and wide and Butt helps himself to a boundary.
5:50pm 24th over: Azhar takes two runs from the last ball of the over to move into the 20s.
5:43pm 23rd over: Hilfenhaus performing some push-up style stretches in the field, a hint to his captain he fancies another bowl perhaps?
Meanwhile it's Bollinger continuing from the Pavilion End.
Butt and Bollinger have a rather forthright exchange of views after the fifth ball of that over.
5:43pm 22nd over: Michael Clarke at slip and what looks like Hussey under the helmet at short-leg for this over from Smith.
5:38pm 21st over: Bollinger replaces Johnson at the Pavilion End.
The bowler ends up in a heap trying to field off his own bowling. Chuckles all round as Ponting helps him back to his feet.
5:35pm 20th over: Another good save in the field, Mike Hussey the fielder this time, three runs instead of four.
Four more runs for Butt, making rather a dent in Smith's previously excellent figures.
5:33pm: A drinks break for all concerned (even the umpires). Pakistan 68-1 need another 372 runs if they're to win. Two days left it is, in theory at least, possible.
5:29pm 19th over: That's a rapid chase for Michael Clarke but he beats the ball to the rope, saving two runs.
That was loose from Johnson, short and wide and Butt gives it the treatment. Four runs.

Smith celebrates his first Test wicket
- click for more photos 5:24pm 18th over: Smith continues to twirl away from the Nursery End. He's conceded just four runs from his four overs so far.
He'll always remember his first Test wicket though (pictured left).
5:20pm 17th over: New batsman, Azhar Ali off the mark in the last over but he takes his score to five with that one feathered off his hips for four.
5:15pm 16th over: Smith's got a wicket with the first ball of the over - and he's delighted, his first Test scalp. Farhat pushed at that one when he needn't have and Shane Watson gobbles up a close-range catch.
Pakistan 50-1 - Farhat c. Watson b. Smith - 24
5:11pm 15th over: Farhat brings up the 50 (and 50 partnership of course) with a push up the ground for three runs.
5:08pm 14th over: Smith bowls a testing over of spin, the Pakistan batsmen happy to see him off.
5:03pm 13th over: Pakistan approaching 50 runs, the first target the openers will have set themselves. They're batting with far more control than they did in the first innings.
4:59pm 12th over: A chance for Steve Smith to make an impact on this match at last, he comes on at the Nursery End.
4:56pm 11th over: Johnson continues from the Pavilion End. Three slips and a gully fielder in place.
Farhat's got another boundary beating the fielders in the off side.
4:52pm 10th over: Hilfenhaus completes the tenth over and Pakistan are 37-0.
4:45pm 9th over: Mitchell Johnson comes into the Australia attack, replacing Bollinger at the Pavilion End.
4:42pm 8th over: Farhat stands up to that one, playing it away smartly wide of the slips, another four to the total. Pakistan racing along at the moment.
4:37pm 7th over: Another boundary, for Salman Butt this time. An elegant cut shot and it races away for four runs. Butt into double figures.
Too wide from Bollinger again and Butt repeats the stroke - another cut and another four runs.
A third boundary in the over but rather a large slice of luck involved in that one, some encouragement at last for Bollinger.
4:34pm 6th over: Full but a bit too full from Hilfenhaus and Farhat scores his first boundary of the innings, taking him past his first innings score.
4:30pm 5th over: Butt happy to watchfully allow most of that over to go past him undisturbed.
4:26pm 4th over: Farhat disappointed with only four runs in the first innings. With Pakistan looking to avoid defeat here, let alone chasing that unlikely target to win, he'll want to do far better.
A maiden over for Hilfenhaus.
4:24pm 3rd over: Butt, who top-scored for Pakistan in the first innings, is adding runs rapidly here - that's four more from Bollinger's bowling.

Fifty for 'Hilfy'
- click for more photos 4:17pm 2nd over: The hero Hilfenhaus bowls the second over of the day.
Just moments ago he was celebrating his highest ever Test score, he ended unbeaten on 56.
4:13pm 1st over: We're back after Tea. Salman Butt and Imran Farhat at the crease and Doug Bollinger bowling from the Pavilion End.
There's the first runs of the innings, Pakistan four closer to that target of 440, a boundary for Butt.
3:56pm: That's the delayed Tea interval at last. Don't forget those late gate tickets are available now.
Staying at your computer? Good - me too. Get yourself a cuppa and we'll be back for Pakistan's attempt at a world-record fourth innings score to win - they need 440 runs.
3:51pm 91st over: Bollinger's Test best score is getting bigger and bigger too - that's four more runs with a sweep shot.
This partnership is worth 50 runs too. The ninth and tenth wickets worth more than 100 runs for Australia. Excruciating for Pakistan.
The pain is over - for now. Kaneria flights one up at Bollinger who misses it and he's bowled.
Australia 334 all out - Bollinger b. Kaneria - 21
3:48pm 90th over: Afridi whizzes through another over but batsmen numbers 10 and 11 batting more like numbers 3 and 4 at the moment.
3:45pm 89th over: Kaneria returns to the attack - he'll bowl from the Pavilion End for the first time in the match.
There it is - fifty runs for Hilfenhaus. Great batting from the Australia number ten. His highest score in Test cricket.
3:41pm 88th over: Hilfenhaus nudging his way closer and closer to his fifty.
Pakistan would need a world-record fourth innings score to win this match. The lead is over 420 runs.
3:37pm 87th over: Bollinger threads a small gap near mid-on, great shot, rewarded with four runs.
Bollinger, now on 12 not out, has got his Test best score too. Previous best was nine.
3:35pm 86th over: Afridi tempts Bollinger into some rather wild strokes but Pakistan just cannot get a wicket - again.
3:31pm 85th over: Gul looks to have missed his chance for a five-for - Asif replaces him at the Pavilion End.
Hilfenhaus is really enjoying himself - that's six! He's closing in on a half century!
3:27pm 84th over: That said earlier about Afridi and the new ball - the captain brings himself back to bowl with the new ball from the Nursery End.
Hilfenhaus is enjoying himself, short from Afridi and he hoists that away into a gap on the leg side for four. The lead up over 400 runs now.
3:22pm 83rd over: Apologies, we missed it but Pakistan have taken the new ball. Indeed they took it in the 81st over, which would explain why Afridi has turned to his fast bowlers.
3:17pm 82nd over: Afridi replaces himself with Asif who'll bowl from the Nursery End.
Bollinger's first runs of the match, a wide one from Asif and the number 11 cracks it away for four!
3:11pm 81st over: Last two batsmen at the crease - numbers 10 and 11. A last chance for Umar Gul to get a fifth wicket.
Gul tries a bouncer but Hilfenhaus sees it coming and plays a good hook shot - four. Hilfenhaus' Test best score moves into the 30s.
3:08pm 80th over: Afridi gets one to go straight through Paine, beats the bat and breaks the stumps. Out.
Australia 282-9 - Paine b. Afridi - 47
With nine wickets down the extra half-hour comes into play. Tea is moved back to 3:40pm.
Two more runs for Hilfenhaus, his Test best score just keeps getting bigger. He's on 27 not out now.
3:03pm 79th over: Paine running quickly between the wickets for two runs. He's closing in on a half century. Not bad for a Test debut, at Lord's.
3pm 78th over: Afridi hangs his head as Hilfenhaus gets off the strike with another all too simple single.
A neat flick for Hilfenhaus brings him four runs but also his highest ever Test score. Now on 22, his previous best was 20.
2:54pm 77th over: Hilfenhaus digging out another attempted yorker from Gul. Paine and Hilfenhaus doing a very good job, frustrating Pakistan.
2:51pm 76th over: Afridi has first Paine and then Hilfenhaus playing and missing in this over. The captain using variety well, some straight, some turning.
2:46pm 75th over: Australia have edged past their first innings score (253), they start this over on 255-8.
Umar Gul, still chasing his five-for, returns at the Pavilion End.
2:44pm 74th over: Afridi having a good chat with Salman Butt before this over, captain and vice-captain trying to work out how to take this next wicket.
Around 20 minutes until Tea and those late gate ticket prices.
2:41pm 73rd over: Four runs for Paine takes him into the 30s and Australia's total past 250. The lead is over 350 too.
2:37pm 72nd over: Pakistan need another wicket. Afridi brings himself on to bowl at the Nursery End. The captain is wicketless so far in this match.
An almost strobe-like light and shade across the Lord's outfield as the clouds whizz past overhead in the strong breeze.
2:33pm 71st over: Amir trying to tempt the batsmen into an edge but they're unmoved.
2:28pm 70th over: Mohammad Asif will bowl the 70th over of the innings, replacing Kaneria at the Nursery End.
Hilfenhaus plays only his second scoring stroke of his innings and it's a second four too.
Make that three boundaries from three scoring shots. Short from Asif and Hilfenhaus plays a smart pull shot.
2:25pm: And that's the drinks break. Australia 236-8, a lead of 341.
2:20pm 69th over: Amir finds a naggingly good line but Hilfenhaus is resolute, earning a pat on the back from Paine at the end of the over.
2:17pm 68th over: Paine jogs an easy single in this over from Kaneria and the spinner will get two balls at Hilfenhaus too. The number ten batsman takes two runs from the last of them.
2:13pm 67th over: Mohammad Amir is bowling again, from the Pavilion End. Paine on strike though the bowler would no doubt rather get at the tail-ender, Hilfenhaus.
A single from the fourth ball of the over means Amir will get that chance for two balls.
2:10pm 66th over: Someone's lost their napkin in the gusting breeze/wind at Lord's - the little white square cartwheeling across the outfield in front of the Grand Stand. It shows how much the wind has picked up this afternoon.
2:06pm 65th over: Good diving stop from Salman Butt on the boundary, saves four. The crowd and his team-mates appreciated that.
Another run for three - the Lord's slope slowing that one on its way to the boundary.
2:02pm 64th over: Kaneria wheels through another over.
The sun breaks through again at Lord's which should help warm-up some of the crowd in rather chilly, windy conditions.
1:56pm 63rd over: Width offered by Gul and Paine happy to help himself to that one - four.
Gul still chasing a five-for and he finds Hilfenhaus' edge... but it bounces in front of Kamran Akmal.
1:51pm 62nd over: Danish Kaneria returns to the attack. He'll bowl his leg spin from the Nursery End.
Steve Smith sees that one coming - he drops to one knee and sweeps that wonderfully for four.
Kaneria won't mind that now - he's got Smith LBW! A fuller ball that darted past the bat and struck him right on the pads.
Australia 208-8 - Smith LBW b. Kaneria - 12
Pakistan into the Australia tail now, Ben Hilfenhaus coming out to bat. Australia lead by 313. Pakistan can't claw their way back in from here - can they?
Hilfenhaus adds a few more to the lead - swinging the bat right through that one, thumping it back past Kaneria for four.
1:47pm 61st over: Umar Gul varying his length intelligently, keeping the batsmen on their toes. Smith digging out an attempted yorker - good batting and bowling.
1:41pm 60th over: Asif continues from the Nursery End. Tim Paine is still moving rather gingerly.
1:36pm 59th over: Ouch, ouch, ouch... Gul fires one in that hits Paine right in the box. Sharp intakes of breath from the crowd at the agonising slow-mo replay.
1:34pm: Late gate ticket news is here at last:
Late gate ticket news
Confirmation of today's late gate tickets news. There will be cheaper tickets available after the Tea interval (scheduled for 3:10pm).
Tickets will be £15 for adults and it will be free for under-16s.
They're on sale from the North Gate at Lord's (cash only please). If you're under-16, you still need to collect a free ticket to gain entry to the Ground.
1:30pm 58th over: Asif tries a few shorter deliveries to Paine but the wicket-keeper isn't tempted to try the hook.
1:24pm 57th over: Umar Gul continues - he's got four wickets now seeking his own place on the neutral Lord's Honours Boards alongside Shane Watson.
Paine is off the mark with a boundary, another despairing dive in the field from Pakistan but fielder and ball end up on the other side of the rope.
That takes Australia's lead past 300 runs.
1:17pm 56th over: Mohammed Asif is the new bowler at the Nursery End.
Whatever was said in that post-lunch huddle must have worked, they've got another wicket! Mohammed Asif tempts Marcus North into a false shot and Kamran Akmal takes another catch behind the stumps.
Australia 188-7 - North c. K. Akmal b. Asif - 20
Two debutants at the crease now for Australia, both on nought. Steve Smith soon remedies that with a single from the first ball he's faced.
1:09pm 55th over: Over number 55 and Umar Gul on again at the Pavilion End.
Umpire Koertzen having a good long look at the pitch where Gul is following through. It seemed he already had a warning before - a second warning and he cannot bowl again.
If that's his last ball of the match its a corker! He's got Katich caught behind!
Australia 188-6 - Katich c. K. Akmal b. Gul - 83
Tim Paine the new batsman, three slips and a gully in place.
1:07pm: Pakistan back on the field already, very early. A sign of how keen they are to get back into the Australia batting.
Shahid Afridi leading a long team-talk just in front of the Pavilion.
12:57pm: Our Day Three photo gallery is coming along nicely too - do have a look as you enjoy your lunch.

Australia 188-5 at lunch
12:28pm 54th over: We'll have one more over before lunch - get ready for your sandwich-dash!
Danish Kaneria's going to bowl it. On your marks...
Four runs for North, a big step and shuffle down the wicket and a strong looking shot to the boundary rope.
12:24pm 53rd over: A well-run three for North, another good chase and stop by Kaneria, Pakistan far more eager in the field now.
Lovely cut shot from Katich and he moves to 83, besting his first innings score of 80.
12:21pm 52nd over: A "swimming pool-like dive" as described on BBC Test Match Special from Danish Kaneria - it was effective though, stopping the ball.
12:17pm 51st over: Amir finding movement again and Katich just about got some bat on that before it hit his pads.
12:12pm 50th over: Afridi removes himself from the attack, bringing on Mohammed Asif at the Nursery End.
An energetic chase in the field from Afridi turns a four into just three. A good example from the captain.
12:07pm 49th over: Players on the field again and we're underway again, Mohammed Amir bowling the 49th over, Marcus North on strike.
North into double figures with a confident looking shot for four.
12:05pm: Hooray! The umpires are coming out and the covers are coming off again. Conditions are much brighter now.
11:56am: Almost as soon as the rain starts, it stops again.
And then, as the groundstaff are tending the covers, it starts again. Schizophrenic weather.
11:49am: Shahid Afridi and some team-mates having a long chat to the umpires about the ball and weather - seems they're unhappy with the ball getting wet.
The umpires are nodding... and they beckon the batsmen off. Rain stops play.
11:45am 48th over: There's still a mizzly, drizzly rain in the air but, after another chat, the umpires allow play to continue.
Katich seems to be enjoying himself, pouncing on another loose ball from Afridi and thundering it away for another four.
11:40am 47th over: Mohammed Amir is coming back on to bowl, at the Pavilion End.
11:37am 46th over: Katich accepts the invitation of a loose ball from Afridi, swatting that one away to the boundary. Four runs moves him into the 70s.
11:33am 45th over: North scores from the first ball he's faced, and runs two.
11:29am 44th over: Afridi continues from the Nursery End, Marcus North is the new batsman - out for a duck in the first innings.
Katich crashes one into the hands of the short-leg fielder but it went so quickly the ball bounced out again before the fielder even knew it had happened.
11:22am 43rd over: Johnson's grinning as umpire Koertzen sends him back - he ran a single there but played no shot so the umpire's not going to allow that one.
Movement after the ball has passed the stumps for Gul - it beats Johnson on the off side but has Kamran Akmal tumbling towards leg to field it.
Johnson's off stump is out of the Ground, crashed back by Umar Gul with a very full pitched delivery.
Australia 149-5 - Johnson b. Gul - 30
That's 100 Test wickets for Umar Gul - congratulations to him.
11:19am 42nd over: The wind has suddenly picked up, umpire Gould having to cling to his rather smart hat. Some brollies spotted going up in the Grand Stand.
Afridi continues from the Nursery End.
11:15am 41st over: Johnson really is a very eager runner - almost every delivery he sets off down the pitch from the non-striker's end.
Umar Gul bowling well but both batsmen look content to block his best deliveries.
11:10am 40th over: Afridi is bringing himself into the attack now at the Nursery End, replacing Kaneria.
The umpires having a short chat, presumably about the gloomy light conditions, just before this over.
A single for Katich makes this partnership worth 50 runs now, 30 of them to Johnson.
11:06am 39th over: Gul having a good chat to both batsmen this morning - banter it would seem. That after umpire Koertzen had a chat with him about his follow through, getting a little close to the centre of the pitch for the official's liking.
11:02am 38th over: Four byes there - Kaneria got that one through Katich's guard and an unsighted Kamran Akmal misses it too.
All bat on that one, an orthodox drive from Katich and he moves his score to 62.
10:57am 37th over: Umar Gul, who took two very quick wickets yesterday, comes back to bowl from the Pavilion End.
MCC President Designate Christopher Martin-Jenkins on BBC Test Match Special say he needs just one more wicket for his 100th Test scalp.
Katich gets a boundary there as he nears the 60s. From the next ball Johnson is almost run out going for a single that Katich had no intention of running.
10:53am 36th over: Another boundary for Johnson who is looking every inch a batsman this morning, playing very well.
10:49am 35th over: Another lovely shot from Mitchell Johnson - an arrow-straight drive back down the ground for another four.
10:46am 34th over: Shahid Afridi has seen enough of the seamers already - Danish Kaneria is coming on at the Nursery End.
A slip and a short-leg fielder in place.
10:42am 33rd over: MCC Head Groundsman Mick Hunt is up in the Lord's Media Centre now - still wearing jeans and wellies! The view up here is good for him to see the cloud apparently.
10:37am 32nd over: A half century for Simon Katich from the first ball of this over. Well played.
Johnson glances one off the edge but it flits away, wide of a diving Kamran Akmal. It runs for four.
And that's another four for Johnson and he moves into double figures. Some rather limp fielding from Asif near the boundary.
That's four more for Johnson and his score has raced along to 17. That was a smart drive right back down the ground.
10:31am 31st over: Officially a bowling change: Mohammed Asif comes on at the Pavilion End, where Umar Gul was bowling from at the close yesterday.
Johnson offers a whole lot of pad to one from Asif that nipped back at him but the umpire Koertzen totally unmoved. HawkEye replays show it was going over the top of the stumps - another good decision by Rudi Koertzen, standing in his penultimate Test.
10:29am 30th over: Here come the players. Mitchell Johnson (on 2) and Simon Katich (49) will resume Australia's second innings on 100-4, ahead by 205.
We'll resume with the last three balls of the 30th over, bowled by Mohammed Amir.
Cloudy overhead and Amir finding a bit of swing to test Katich who needs just one run for a second half century in this match.
10:21am: Slip catching practice for Ricky Ponting and Mike Hussey - perhaps they're expecting to be in the field again soon? Australia will resume on 100-4, leading by 205.
10:14am: Mick Hunt driving the roller on the square now - we may be set for an on schedule start after all!
10:04am: Nearly all the covers are off now - just the famous hover-cover on the square but the groundstaff look set to fire that up too.
Pakistan's players on the outfield in front of the Pavilion, warming-up with a game of football-tennis. Shahid Afridi's team are losing by the looks of it!
9:57am: The greatest weather prediction device at Lord's has changed it's outlook.
MCC Head Groundsman Mick Hunt's clothing is always a good indicator of the coming weather at Lord's.
First thing this morning he was in his customary shorts. He's just walked back onto the outfield in jeans... and wellies. Oh dear.
That said, he is steering his ever-efficient team in taking the covers off so it can't be all bad.
9:41am: Your emails Angela has sent an email to Live@Lords.org asking:
"Where on the website do I find the weather /play update?"
Stick with us here on Lords.org/live for up to the minute news of the match, both before and during!
9:38am: Looks like another yo-yo weather day. After a few minutes of rain, suddenly dazzlingly bright sunshine sweeps over the Ground. Covers coming off again.
9:17am: Good morning - well, an OK-ish morning, at least as far as the weather's concerned.
The covers are on at Lord's and just moments ago the rain was rather heavy. It has eased off a little but an on schedule start (10:30am) is looking unlikely at the moment.
Day Two
6:57pm: What a great day of cricket! 15 wickets and 272 runs in a day. The match swinging from one team to the other.
Pakistan started on top but some terrible Pakistan batting and good Australia bowling but the Aussies in the ascendency.
Some more great bowling from Pakistan has seen them claw their way back into the match.
We'll be following it all live from 10am tomorrow - you won't want to miss a minute of it!
6:52pm 30th over: One from Amir whizzes past Johnson's edge and the umpires are looking at their lightmeters... a quick chat and they're off. That's the close of play.
Australia 100-4 at the close of play
6:47pm 29th over: Katich leaves one and every time the batsmen leave it there are "ooohs" around Lord's. Ponting and Clarke both out to poorly judged leaves.
Two overs in this innings for Gul, two maidens and two wickets.
6:42pm 28th over: That's a match-changing few overs for Pakistan, from being way out of this match they have forced their way right back into this. Great Test cricket at Lord's.
Double-seam from Pakistan for Afridi, Mohammed Amir brought on at the Nursery End.
Two for Johnson brings up 100 runs for Australia.
6:34pm 27th over: A bowling change: Umar Gul comes back on at the Pavilion End this time.
Clarke stepped over that one and left it, assuming it was missing and his stumps are in a mess! Great ball from Gul.
Australia 97-3 - Clarke b. Gul - 12
Two in two balls for Gul who runs half way around the Ground celebrating he's on a hat-trick! Hussey gone first ball!
Australia 97-4 - Hussey c. Farhat b. Gul - 0
Mitchell Johnson sent out as nightwatchman to face the hat-trick ball!
6:32pm 26th over: A maiden over for Kaneria too as Pakistan, boosted by those two wickets, start to turn the screw on the batsmen.
Australia's lead edges past 200, now ahead by 202.
6:27pm 25th over: Asif still on the mark, not giving anything for the batsmen to really get at. A good pat on the back from his captain after that over - a maiden.
6:23pm 24th over: A no ball and Katich makes it one that's worth five as he whips it off his toes to the boundary.
6:19pm 23rd over: Asif continues from the Pavilion End and Clarke has got four more - though a little streaky as a cut shot whistles away for four.
6:15pm 22nd over: Kaneria whips through another quick over but nothing to trouble the batsmen.
6:12pm 21st over: A maiden over from Asif who has always looked at his most dangerous from the Pavilion End.
6:11pm: Your emails - Reilly has emailed us about Shane Watson - says he and his mates are divided on him:
"I’m another aussie in London - my aussie crew is 50/50 on him. 50% think he rubbish, 50% thinks he fat and rubbish."
Ouch! That's harsh Reilly! For an all-rounder who has reinvented himself as an opener in the Aussies hour of need - and still taking wickets.
Anyone going to speak up for the Honours Board man? Live@Lords.org
6:09pm 20th over: Kaneria will bowl the 20th over of the innings.
Clarke skips around that one, moving his feet well, and drives that one right back down the ground. Four.
6:04pm 19th over: That will help Pakistani spirits no end! Ponting got nothing but pads on that one, offering no shot and he's given out LBW.
Australia 73-2 - Ponting LBW b. Asif - 0
Michael Clarke off the mark with a boundary, for runs for the vice-captain.
5:58pm 18th over: Amir returns to the attack, he'll bowl from the Nursery End for the first time in this match.
Amir a little wayward from this end so far, Katich plundering fours. The Pakistan bowlers look a little glum.
Another boundary to Katich, who looks in good form again, won't help those flagging Pakistani spirits.
5:49pm 17th over: Katich adds four more runs to the score, a rather effortless stroke flicked away to the boundary.
Poor Shane Watson seems rather unpopular with the Aussies. Mike Busby is on our Facebook page saying:
"My Aussie mate who I am watching with thinks Watson is a waste of space. Any chance you can strike him off the board?"
Sorry Mike, no can do. Watson has earned his place up there. Aussies, why don't you like Watson? What have we missed? Do tell: Live@Lords.org
Either way, Watson is unmoved, he adds four more to his score, taking him into the 30s.
No more for Watson though - Asif has him caught in the slips. Out.
Australia 61-1 - Watson c. Farhat b. Asif - 31
Loud applause for the Australia captain, Ricky Ponting, on his way out to the crease. This could be Ponting's last ever innings at Lord's - can he get his name on the Lord's Honours Boards?
5:46pm: And that's the drinks interval. Australia are 52-0, a lead of 157.
5:43pm 15th over: Asif still bowling a good, nagging line but nothing that really troubles the batsmen.
5:39pm 14th over: Kaneria continues from the Nursery End with his leg-spin.
Short from Kaneria there and Watson pounces on it, pulling it hard and long and into the stands. Six! That brings up the 50 for Australia.
5:34pm 13th over: A double bowling change - Mohammed Asif replaces Amir at the Pavilion End.
Loud appeal for LBW from Asif who is bouncing on the balls of his feet... but again the umpire unmoved.
5:31pm 12th over: On comes the spinner, Danish Kaneria (2-49 in the first innings) comes on at the Nursery End.
5:25pm 11th over: Amir toils away again - a loud appeal from the last ball of the over but the umpire just hands him his cap.
5:18pm 10th over: Gul fields from his own bowling and moves to throw at the stumps - instead a little stare at Simon Katich instead.
Fifth ball of the over and Katich plays it at his feet. The bowler trots down to collect it and stands there, polishing the ball on his trousers, with a few words for Katich.
5:14pm 9th over: Amir starting to find his line, angling the ball across Watson and beating the bat.
5:09pm 8th over: Australia seem in a bit of a (unnecessary) hurry, Katich had to scramble and dive for a single there - almost run-out.
5:04pm 7th over: Katich helps himself to four more runs and Australia set about building a lead quickly - already 135 runs ahead at the end of this over.
4:58pm 6th over: A bowling change for Pakistan - Umar Gul replaces Asif.
Good stop by Azhar in the gully cuts that one off - would have been four otherwise.
4:54pm 5th over: Amir drifts onto Katich's pads and he's more than happy to brush that away for four. Good shot.
4:49pm 4th over: Four more for Watson, a strong pull shot. He'll be greatly enjoying this.
Not again... umbrellas going up in the Grand Stand... the umpires ponder for a moment... but the covers are coming on again.
As the players trot off the rain stops! The crowd roar their approval and even before they're on the Pavilion steps they're coming back again! Hurrah!
4:46pm 3rd over: Amir still trying to find that seam and swing movement which troubled the Australians in the first innings.
4:40pm 2nd over: Katich, who scored 80 in the first innings, gets off the mark in the second with a four.
And another four for Watson, cheered all the way up the slope by the Australia contingent in the crowd.
Encouragement for the bowlers still though as Asif pitches one on middle stump which seams and swings away from Watson who is left groping outside off.
4:35pm 1st over: Mohammed Amir bowls to the Honours Board-hero Shane Watson.
Watson in a truly golden spell - the first ball faced whistled away for four! He must feel untouchable at the moment.
4:34pm: Players on the field again and Australia will start their second innings already 105 runs ahead. How much of a lead can they build? How much will be enough? How much will the in-form Pakistan bowlers get them out for?
Send us your emails: Live@Lords.org
4:29pm: Congratulations to Shane Watson, the first bowler on the new neutral Lord's Honours Boards. Career-best figures for him - 5-40.
Australia lead by 105 runs.
4:24pm 41st over: Watson will resume his pursuit of a five-for as the Ground is suddenly bathed in glorious sunshine.
Watson's done it! He's on the Honours Boards! Kaneria caught in the slips and Watson is cock-a-hoop!
Pakistan 148 all out - Kaneria c. Smith b. Watson - 14
4:22pm 40th over: Johnson rounds off the 40th over (just one ball left of it after the rain).
4:17pm: The weather yo-yo continues. Moments after the rain the sun is shining as brightly as it has done all day. Expect play again soon.
Still time to enter our competition whilst you're waiting.
4:09pm 40th over: We'll try again to play the 40th over - Mitchell Johnson to bowl it.
Four slips and a gully in place but that's four runs for Mohammed Asif.
Oh dear... there's more rain. Another sudden surge-shower that's already easing off as the players trot off the field. The Lord's hover-cover whirrs into action.
4:05pm: That's officially the Tea break. Tea and cake enjoyed up here in the Lord's Media Centre.
Covers are off and the players will be out again soon.
3:49pm 40th over: A few brollies up at Lord's before the 40th over - just a sprinkling of light drizzle at the moment. Australia will be desperate to stay on and get this tenth wicket.
Johnson replaces Bollinger... but as he does so the rain suddenly increases and the players and umpires scamper off.
3:45pm 39th over: Watson continuing from the Nursery End. He's after a five-for and a place on the Lord's Honours Boards - something Aussie greats like Shane Warne never achieved.
3:40pm 38th over: Batsman numbers 10 and 11 at the crease. Bollinger to Kaneria with Asif at the other end. This shouldn't last long...
If/when the tenth wicket goes down we'll take Tea. Time for those late gate tickets.
Four runs for Kaneria, cheered all the way by the crowd - complete luck in that stroke a huge swing and it looped high, high over the slips and away to the rope.
3:34pm 37th over: Salman Butt can only run one from the second ball of that Watson over. The triple-wicket man will get four chances to bowl at number ten, Danish Kaneria.
First chance he gets though, Kaneria is off strike again and not with a single but with a well-run three.
Watson enjoys the chance to bowl at the senior batsman though - he's got Salman Butt with a belting yorker-length delivery!
Pakistan 133-9 - Butt b. Watson - 63
3:29pm 36th over: Michael Clarke has gone off (comfort break perhaps) - Steve O'Keefe gladly taking another chance to be on the field.
Bollinger continues from the Pavilion End and he's got Umar Gul. Shane Watson involved again, taking a neat catch in the slips.
Pakistan 129-8 - Gul c. Watson b. Bollinger - 7
Bollinger will relish that wicket after the roughing up Gul gave him when he was batting.
3:25pm 35th over: Watson not quite carrying the threat he was before - though arguably the Pakistan batsmen's biggest threat before was themselves.
3:20pm 34th over: No fortune needed in that one, Salman Butt playing another lovely looking stroke as he moves into the 60s.
3:15pm 33rd over: Umar Gul has to have a little dance there! He dropped that delivery at his feet and it almost rolled onto his stumps before he soft-shoe-shuffled it away.
More good fortune for Umar Gul, a bit of a swipe at that one and the balls zips away to the boundary for four runs.
3:09pm 32nd over: Careless from the new batsman, Mohammad Amir. He just hung his bat at that and Tim Paine gratefully gobbles up his fourth catch of the innings.
Pakistan 117-7 - Amir c. Paine b. Bollinger - 0
New batsman Umar Gul off the mark, running a gentle single to let Salman Butt have the strike.
3:01pm 31st over: Afridi is batting like he's trying to hit Watson out of the attack - another powerful shot for four more runs.
If you're not already considering it you should get down here for late gate tickets - fantastic entertainment this.
Dainty this time from Afridi - a wristy steer to guide that one past the slips for another boundary.
My goodness, power and technique in that shot and the umpire raises both arms again. Afridi's second six!
Watson's got him, clever bowling. A change of pace and Afridi throws the bat again but this time he merely hoists a catch to Mitchell Johnson.
Pakistan 117-6 - Afridi c. Johnson b. Watson - 31
2:56pm 30th over: A change of bowling for Australia, Bollinger is back, replacing Johnson at the Pavilion End.
Yikes, an ugly agricultural swipe from Afridi and he completely misses it.
2:50pm 29th over: Kamran Akmal caught in two minds there - half to play, half to not. He meekly offers his pads which Watson's delivery duly hits. A simple decision for LBW - a tame wicket for a jubilant Watson.
Pakistan 83-5 - Kamran Akmal LBW b. Watson - 0
Watson looking unplayable at the moment! Partly good bowling but partly poor batting from Pakistan.
That's better. The captain, Afridi, is the new batsman and he swoops onto that loose delivery from Watson and steers it for four.
A large slice of luck in that shot - he threw everything at that one and it races away for four more runs.
Afridi batting like it's a Twenty20 - he fully got hold of that one and absolutely whacks it away - six!
2:45pm 28th over: A half century for Butt brought up with a beautiful shot for four, his tenth of the innings. You sense Pakistan's hopes of establishing a lead lie with him.
He doesn't linger on his fifty for long, four more for Butt.
2:39pm 27th over: Shane Watson comes on to bowl, replacing Hilfenhaus at the Nursery End.
Umar shows intent against the new bowler, taking a big step down the crease just as Watson entered his delivery stride.
Umar didn't get any bat on that, it was all pads - a loud appeal from Watson and given out LBW.
Pakistan 75-4 - Umar Akmal LBW b. Watson - 5
2:35pm 26th over: Johnson trying a shorter pitched delivery again but Salman Butt quickly saw it and swayed out of the way.
Four more for Butt but encouragement for Johnson - not a wonderful stroke, it was on his pads and Butt got enough on it to send it flashing away for four.
2:31pm 25th over: Umar helps himself to a quickly run two, dinking that one off his pads.
2:28pm 24th over: Johnson seems to be getting quicker with each passing over. He gets a loud clap from his captain, Ponting, in the slips after that over.
2:23pm 23rd over: Four more for Butt - he flashed at that one but went hard enough to clip it over the slips. Four runs the result.
2:20pm 22nd over: Pow! A bouncer from Johnson and Umar reigns in his instincts to keep his bat out of the way, but it costs him a sharp blow on the upper chest.
Umar doesn't look set just yet, another lively one from Johnson and it takes Umar's edge but it drops just short of the slips.
2:16pm 21st over: Salman Butt seems to be playing the same way no matter what the situation.
He waits for a loose one, a bit of width from Hilfenhaus, and he cuts it neatly for four.
2:10pm 20th over: Johnson resumes from the Pavilion End and he's taken the second debutant from just the third ball! A third catch behind for Tim Paine.
Pakistan 54-3 - Amin c. Paine b. Johnson - 1
A wicket maiden for Johnson. He's supposed to be coming back from injury but he looks in decent nick already.
The exciting Umar Akmal (who gave Australia a bit of a lashing in the Twenty20 series) is the new batsman.
2:08pm: Players back on the field and we'll be underway again. Hooray!

Here's Ben Hilfenhaus appealing for (and getting) his second wicket of the day. Check out our full day two photo gallery - lots of handy links all on the right.
1:42pm: The 3rd umpire has his brolly down and he scurries off the field again. The rain has stopped, the covers are coming off. Conditions already looking brighter.
Official confirmation that play will restart at 2:10pm.
1:37pm: What's that? You want more to entertain you during the break in play?
Have you entered our lunchtime competition yet? You should. It's free and there's a great prize on offer.
1:26pm: As if to cement the break in play it's raining now too. The MCC groundstaff team whirl into action laying out the covers.
1:17pm: Stick with us though this break in play, we've got lots of ways to entertain you.
First off the bat, we've just done a very interesting interview with Pakistan legend Imran Khan.
The former Pakistan captain has some very interesting views on Pakistan both on and off the cricket pitch.
1:09pm 19th over: Hilfenhaus, who has taken both Pakistan wickets to fall so far, resumes from the Nursery End. 50-up for Pakistan and Amin off the mark from the first ball back after lunch.
An attractive drive from Butt brings up the first four after lunch. Good shot.
Oh and that's a shame, bad light stops play soon after lunch. The officials stay on the field to keep an eye on conditions but all the players are walking back to the Pavilion.
1:08pm: Players heading back out onto the field but it has got very dark in the last few minutes. The umpires' lightmeters will be twitching.
12:56pm: The eager school children make their way off the field again - they'll have enjoyed that!
We'll be underway again soon. MCC Head Groundsman Mick Hunt surveying his work at the moment. It has got a little more gloomy overhead in the last few minuntes - more encouragement for the Australia seamers.
12:35pm: 80+ school children enjoying a chance to play on the Lord's outfield:

12:30pm: Spot on 12:30, that's lunch.
Pakistan 49-2 at lunch
12:27pm 18th over: This should be the last over before lunch - Johnson bowling it.
When Asif got Clarke just before the Tea interval yesterday it really bouyed Pakistan who went on to bowl brilliantly. That timely wicket from Hilfenhaus could do the same for Australia.
That will help Pakistan's morale, Butt clipping that one through the off-side for another four.
12:21pm 17th over: Another cracking delivery from Hilfenhaus - bounce and movement there and Azhar has to play at it but can only brush another catch to Tim Paine.
Pakistan 45-2 - Azhar c. Paine b. Hilfenhaus - 16
Debutant number two, Umar Amin the new man in.
12:17pm 16th over: Just a reminder, with the start for this Test at 10:30 each day, lunch is scheduled for 12:30 and Tea for 3:10 - just so you can ready yourself for the lunch-time dash!
We've had comments from our friends on Facebook too. Lots of you impressed by the young Pakistan bowler Amir, Gary Lambert's comment typical of many:
"I've been very impressed by young Amir. Great prospect!"
12:15pm 15th over: Hilfenhaus still looking the 'bowler most likely' at the moment - the batsmen treating him with careful respect at the moment.
12:10pm 14th over: Australia change their bowlers again - Mitchell Johnson replaces Bollinger at the Pavilion End.
Our Day Two photo gallery is up and running too.
Butt shifts backwards and to his left and rattles that one from Johnson away for four. Great shot.
12:04pm 13th over: Hilfenhaus still rattling in from the Nursery End.
Your emails Lee M has sent us an email:
"It never fails to amuse me when Chris Broad has to inform players about their conduct. Poacher turned gamekeeper or what!"
Lee referring to Mr. Broad having a little chat to Amir after his clash with Ponting yesterday. We'll remain solidly on the fence there Lee!
Send us your emails: Live@Lords.org
12:01pm 12th over: Midday ticks past and Bollinger continues from the Pavilion End.
11:56am 11th over: A little more fortune in that boundary, Azhar angling the face of the bat and it skips away for another four runs.
Mitchell Johnson has nipped off for a break - Steve O'Keefe the 12th man on the field. That may affect when Johnson can bowl again next - though it shouldn't, he was away for fewer than the 15 minutes stipulated in the Laws.
11:53am 10th over: Butt takes his time in that over and finally gets a wider one from Bollinger which he clips away effortlessly for four.
11:49am 9th over: Hilfenhaus getting some good movement from the Nursery End - Ponting supporting him with four slips in place. A maiden over.
11:43am 8th over: Ali making a confident start - picking the loose balls and the gaps in the field and also scurrying rapidly between the wickets to build his score.
11:37am 7th over: Round and round we go again - Hilfenhaus is back (just one over from Johnson) this time the Nursery End for Hilfenhaus. Ponting admitting he got them at the wrong end?
It's worked! Hilfenhaus has Farhat playing at that one and its caught behind by 'keeper Tim Paine!
Pakistan 11-1 - Farhat c. Paine b. Hilfenhaus - 4
Debutant Azhar Ali comes out to bat. The youngster is off the mark early which will make him feel much more calm straight away.
Salman Butt adds a boundary to the score but Hilfenhaus bowling well.
11:32am 6th over: A double change, but purely to accomodate Bollinger switching ends. He's at the Pavilion End now.
11:28am 5th over: An early bowling change for Australia: Johnson replaces Bollinger.
11:25am 4th over: A boundary, four, for Butt too in the fourth over. Both batsmen taking their time, waiting for the balls they can hit.
11:21am 3rd over: Farhat off the mark too now, with a four. A loose ball from Bollinger, given the treatment.
News from ICC: about that little clash between Amir and Ponting (after the former dismissed the latter). Match referee, Chris Broad, has had a chat to Amir about his "future conduct". Basically, a bit of a telling off.
11:16am 2nd over: Ben Hilfenhaus will start the bowling from the Pavilion End - Mitchell Johnson perhaps still a little scarred from opening the attack in here in the Ashes - with rather poor results.
First runs of the day - two of them - from the last ball of the over. Butt off the mark.
11:10am 1st over: Looks like Doug Bollinger will open the bowling for Australia after his morning started with the bat.
A maiden over for Bollinger. Some encouraging movement there for the seamer.
11:04am: Pakistan's Salman Butt and Imran Farhat will be coming out to bat for Pakistan shortly. Australia's bowlers will hope to make the most of the humid, slightly overcast conditions - though the sun is breaking through more by the moment.
With two debutants (Azhar Ali and Umar Amin) to come in at three and four Butt and Farhat need to do a good job for Pakistan.
11:00am 77th over: Amir perseveres from the Pavilion End. One wonders how long before we see the spinner, Danish Kaneria, if these two last much longer.
No need for any other Pakistan bowlers to trouble themselves now - Amir knocks back Bollinger's leg stump with a fuller pitched delivery. Good bowling.
Australia 253 all out - Bollinger b. Amir - 4
10:53am 76th over: Awkward bounce for Gul troubles Bollinger who's hit on the body. Gul will relish the chance of a full over at the number 11 batsman.
Second ball is short and hits Bollinger too - ouch. Bollinger sees out the rest of the over earning him warm applause from the knowledgable Lord's crowd who are appreciating the contest.
10:48am 75th over: Asif is replaced by Mohammed Amir - Pakistan want to get rid of one of these batsman quickly.
Four more for Hussey brings up Australia's 250. That will have been their first target of the morning - bonus runs for them.
10:43am 74th over: Hussey brings up his 50 with a stroke of luck. He almost chopped onto his own stumps but the ball crashed into the turf just besides his stumps then shoots away for four.
10:38am 73rd over: Hussey half-changed his mind then but still got enough bat on that one from Asif to send the ball away for four runs.
First runs of the match for Bollinger - he flashes the bat at the last ball of the over and it flies away for four - from the 18th ball he faced.
10:33am 72nd over: Officially a bowling change (Danish Kaneria was at this end yesterday) and it's Umar Gul who'll start things off from the Nursery End today.
Hussey runs one when he could have had two - meaning two more balls for the tail-ender to face.
10:29am 71st over: Here we go - starting with the 71st over of the innings. How long with Hussey and Bollinger last?
It looks like Mohammad Asif who will bowl the first over of the day - Hussey on strike.
First run of the morning - Hussey trotting through for a gentle single. Leaves Bollinger to face the remaining three balls of this over - which he survives.
10:25am: Former Pakistan player Alimuddin rings the five minute bell and we'll be underway soon.
10:12am: Lots of activity on the outfield, though it's mostly the media now (and not a cover in sight, don't worry). Sun still out and things looking spot on for a start at 10:30. Stick with us.
9:43am: The players are getting set for an on schedule start (at 10:30am). Australia's players on the Lord's outfield performing fielding and bowling drills. Pakistan's players have headed to the nets in the MCC Indoor Cricket School.
Fair to say both sides not expecting Mike Hussey and Doug Bollinger to last that long for the tenth Australia wicket!
9:14am: Good morning. We thought we'd start a little early today as I'm sure you're all as worried about the weather as we are.
Good news - the forecast rain has yet to arrive. It's warm, humid and there's hazy sunshine at Lord's.
Australia will resume on 229-9 after Pakistan had a great day with the ball yesterday.
Read our day one summary to catch-up on the action.
Day One
6:51pm: Thanks for joining us today. Be sure to let us know what you think of our live service - or your views on the match, we'd love to hear from you:
Our Day one summary is online now if you missed any of the action.
We'll be here from 10am tomorrow morning and throughout the Test. Hope to see you then!
6:22pm: The stumps are coming out and the famous Lord's hover-cover is whirring into action. That's officially the close of play.
Australia 229-9 at close of play
6:16pm 70th over: Umpires confer again about the light but Kaneria will contine from the Nursery End.
Hussey darts off for a single from the last ball of the over. Well played.
Umpires chatting again...
Yup, that may well be it for the day. The players trudge off, Bad Light the call. With Australia 229-9 Pakistan will be rightly pleased with their first day's work.
Warm applause from the crowd at Lord's as they show their appreciation of a great day's Test cricket.
6:12pm 69th over: Asif comes on to replace Amir - the fresher paceman obviously the option for Afridi.
Three slips and a gully. The umpire's looking at their lightmeters. Uh oh...
Two balls left of the over - Bollinger throws everything at that... and hits nothing. He survives the last ball of the over and earns a good slap on the shoulder from Hussey.
6:09pm 68th over: Hussey turning down easy singles as he tries to shepherd the tail and accumulate a few runs.
A maiden from Kaneria - good bowling. That'll expose Bollinger to Amir's pace.
6:06pm 67th over: Bollinger blocking Amir to great cheers from the Lord's crowd - loving the number 11s stoicism.
6:01pm 66th over: Kaneria will bowl to Hussey. Bollinger is the new batsman but Amir got that last wicket with the last ball of the 65th over.
Hussey's tickled an edge on that one! But it went very quickly and dips into the turf just short of Umar Akmal at short-leg.
And then, as if distracted by that, Hussey and Bollinger charge into one another half way down the wicket, charging for a single!
Six men (including the 'keeper) around the bat for Bollinger. Can he survive two balls of this over...? Yes.
5:56pm 65th over: Amir charges in from the Pavilion End and Hilfenhaus is off the mark with a single.
222-8 on the scoreboard - that'd be unlucky for Englishmen... will it be for Australia?
The quick answer is yes! Amir has a third wicket and Hilfenhaus is clean bowled - the bails shoot off in opposite directions!
Australia 222-9 - Hilfenhaus b. Amir - 1
5:52pm 64th over: More good spin bowling by Kaneria earns him the reward of a second slip from his skipper.

Mitchell Johnson is clean bowled by Danish Kaneria
5:47pm 63rd over: Amir back at the Pavilion End as Pakistan chase the Aussie tail.
Hussey seems unflustered by the clatter of wickets - he's gone after that one and struck it smoothly away for four.
5:43pm 62nd over: Just four men around the bat now for Kaneria to Johnson - moderately restrained from the attack-minded Afridi.
No fielders needed for that one - Kaneria tempts Johnson forward and twirls it past his loose defences and breaks the stumps. Bowled.
Australia 213-8 - Johnson b. Kaneria - 3

Umar Gul celebrates a wicket 5:38pm 61st over: Another great snap from our photo gallery - Umar Gul celebrating his wicket as he continues to bowl from the Pavilion End.
5:31pm 60th over: Kaneria has his first wicket too - trapping fellow leg-spinner Steve Smith LBW. Out.
Australia 208-7 - Smith LBW b. Kaneria - 1
Five men around the bat for Mitchell Johnson at the crease.
5:24pm 59th over: That might remove Paine's smile a bit. Pace and bounce for Gul and Paine could only edge that behind. Caught and out.
Australia 206-6 - Paine c. K. Akmal b. Gul - 7
New batsman Steve Smith is the second successive Australia Test debutant. He's off the mark with a single. That'll help calm any nerves.
5:21pm: A drinks break. Definitely advantage Pakistan in that period of play but Mike Hussey playing some dashing shots just before the break.
Paine's relaxed style on his Test debut continues - he's enjoying himself, sharing a laugh and a joke with the drinks carriers and Hussey - huge grin on his face and why not?
5:17pm 58th over: Another single for Hussey. Kaneria to Paine with three men around the bat but a single for Paine too.
That's quite a way to get the scoreboard moving again - Hussey picks that one up and with minimal effort he powers that one over the rope for six!
Into the off side this time but another boundary for Hussey - merely four runs this time.
5:14pm 57th over: A scrambled single there for Hussey - Afridi throws down the stumps at the non-strikers end but he was just home in time. Afridi will be pleased to see them taking risks even if it breaks the spell of maidens.
5:11pm 56th over: Another maiden and the batsmen starting to show signs of frustration - that'll bring a big smile to Shahid Afridi's face.
5:06pm 55th over: Umar Gul back into the attack, replacing Asif at the Pavilion End. Shahid Afrid having a long chat to his bowler after the first delivery of the over.
A maiden for Gul too - Pakistan ratcheting up the pressure. A great spell of Test cricket.
5:03pm 54th over: Kaneria using some clever variations to keep the batsmen on their toes. Another maiden, more pressure on Australia.
5:01pm 53rd over: Hussey likes his boundaries - he scored quite a few here a few weeks ago when Australia beat England in the NatWest One Day Series. That's four more.
4:58pm 52nd over: A maiden over for Kaneria as the pitch starts to offer turn. The batsmen looking very wary of the spinner.
4:52pm 51st over: For a debutant, Paine is looking very calm. Happy to pinch 1s and 2s to keep the scoreboard ticking.
Hussey loosens the shackles slightly - pushing that one through the gap and all the way to the rope for four runs.
4:49pm 50th over: Danish Kaneria replaces Amir at the Nursery End.
He zips one past Paine's bat - some turn for Kaneria.
4:46pm 49th over: Paine and Hussey see off another over from Asif who's not bowling with quite the same zip in the first overs of his spell.
4:43pm 48th over: Amir not quite at his threatening best there - the batsmen in defensive mode, trying to settle in.
4:37pm 47th over: Asif continues from the Pavilion End.
Hussey and Paine will be glad to have seen off another good over from Asif.
4:32pm 46th over: Pakistan scenting blood - Amir replaces Gul at the Nursery End as they chase more wickets.
Paine gets a rather fortuitous boundary - more encouragement for Asif though, troubling both batsmen.
4:23pm 45th over: Katich will start the over with his score on 80. We'll have an eye on the superstitious Aussies on the balcony if he gets to 87 - that's the Australian equivalent of the 'unlucky' Nelson (multiples of 111) for Englishmen.
We'll never know now - the Lords.org commentary-curse strikes instead. Asif has him caught behind - out.
Australia 174-4 - Katich c. K. Akmal b. Asif - 80
Australia have to build again now - Hussey and North the two batsmen in, both on nought.
Asif stops any building work there - he hits North's off stump and North's wicket is in a mess.
Australia 174-5 - North b. Asif - 0
Test debutant Tim Paine strides out to the crease. Australia wobbling.
4:19pm 44th over: Umar Gul is back at the Nursery End this time. One would expect Asif to stay on at the Pavilion End after taking a wicket with the last ball before Tea.
Down the ground from Katich - a long run for Afridi to chase that down. Hope he had a light Tea!
4:18pm: Players back on the field after Tea. Australia will resume on 171-3 with Mike Hussey the new batsman.
And that's Tea.
Australia 171-3 at Tea
A good session for Australia, Katich and Clarke frustrating the Pakistan bowlers but that wicket will make Pakistan's tea taste a lot sweeter.
Don't forget our free to enter competition - great prize on offer too.
3:56pm 43rd over: We'll squeeze in another over. Asif will bowl it.
Asif spears that one through Clarke - that beat bat, pad and missed the stumps too - just over the top.
Last ball before Tea and Asif has got Clarke out, LBW! A great over from Asif and that's a massive boost for Pakistan just before Tea.
Australia 171-3 - Clarke LBW b. Asif - 47
3:53pm 42nd over: This may be the last over before Tea. Remember there are late gate tickets after the Tea interval.
Another expensive over from Afridi - the batsmen helping themselves somewhat.
3:49pm 41st over: A double bowling change and Mohammad Asif is brought back into the attack - from the Pavilion End this time for the seamer.
3:46pm 40th over: Afridi decides it's time for change and brings himself on at the Nursery End.
Not a great delivery first off from the skipper, Katich plunders another effortless four, taking Australia past 150 runs and making this partnership worth 100 now.
3:41pm 39th over: Katich reaches for that one, it looked a little wild but it shot over the slips and flies away for four. A half century for Katich who salutes the applauding Lord's crowd.
Katich isn't hanging around on 50 - he helps himself to four more runs from the very next delivery from Kaneria.
Katich swinging the bat a lot now - that one was lofted into the leg side but again it's short of the fielders and runs rather than wickets.
3:39pm 38th over: Just a little long from Kaneria there and Katich siezes his chance, threading that through the leg side fielders for four.
3:34pm 37th over: Wow - lots of movement for Amir there - that one shot back diagonally at Clarke who shouldered arms.
Clarke beaten again followed by a sharp exhalation from the batsman. He knows Amir is bowling well.
That will make Clarke feel better - one right out of the middle of the bat and four runs to his score. Both batsmen on the same total again - 40.
3:32pm 36th over: Kaneria starts to lose his line a little, trying too hard perhaps?
3:27pm 35th over: Amir (more on name change from Aamer later) bowls another decent over, the runs dried up a little lately.
Word from the scorer's box at Lord's (never doubt the authority) is that at lunch the player himself asked for it to be changed to "Amir" (not Aamer). Perhaps he needs to tell the PCB - they have him listed as "Mohammad Aamer".
3:24pm 34th over: Both Katich and Clarke seem content to block away any mildly troubling balls from Kaneria and wait for the bad balls to hit. Not many of the latter in this over.
3:20pm 33rd over: Afridi turns to the only man to take wickets so far today - Mohammed Aamer on again at the Pavilion End.
3:18pm 32nd over: Kaneria still struggling to find anything that troubles the Australia batsmen. Clarke and Katich have a little chat after that over - they'll be pretty pleased with things so far.
3:12pm 31st over: Both batsmen are on 34 runs Clarke from nearly half as many balls as Katich but both solidifying the Australia innings.
3:07pm 30th over: Four men around the bat again for the resumption of Kaneria vs. Katich. He gets a single.
Only three around the bat for Kaneria to Clarke - just two fielders in the leg side and Clarke advances down the pitch to work it into the wide open leg side for four.
Clarke down the pitch again - a big stride and a big shot - whacked back over Kaneria's head. Four more.
3:01pm 29th over: Gul called for a second no ball in as many overs - he's just over-stepping.
Clarke blinking and grinning at that one - he left it and it just feathered past his stumps. A good leave really - he wasn't out. Gul's smiling too.
Clarke looking questioningly at the pitch and then the sky - he cannot work out where Gul's getting this movement from. It's troubling him.
2:58pm 28th over: A leg slip in place now for Kaneria to Katich. Four men around the bat including the 'keeper.
100-up for Australia from the next ball. One ball later, they make it a 50 partnership too - lots of applause around Lord's for the batsmen.
2:54pm 27th over: Back underway after the stop for refreshments - Umar Gul continues from the Pavilion End.
Great ball from Gul, the last of the over, he completely deceived Clarke there who played and missed.
2:50pm: The umpires beckon on the 12th men and it's time for a drinks break.
A great start from Pakistan but Katich and Clarke especially bringing Australia back into things.
What do you think? Send us your emails: Live@Lords.org - we'll post the best ones here.
2:46pm 26th over: Afridi turns to spin and calls Danish Kaneria on to bowl at the Nursery End. Pakistan need to unsettle these batsmen.
Akmal up to the stumps, one slip and a short leg fielder in place.
2:42pm 25th over: Four more runs to Australia's total - but they're byes this time. Bad luck for a tumbling Kumar Akmal.
2:37pm 24th over: Another boundary for Clarke, warmly applauded by the crowd at Lord's. Australia starting to motor a bit now.
Four more to Clarke who looks in excellent form already. Clarke's scored 26 from just 23 balls already.
2:27pm 23rd over: A third spell for Gul, at the Pavilion End this time as Pakistan look for a third wicket.

Download free Umar Gul wallpapers This match (and the Series) are sponsored by the MCC Spirit of Cricket. Umar Gul is one of our 'poster boys/girls'.
2:27pm 22nd over: Clarke picking the gaps now too - as he moves into double figures.
The cloud cover has moved on a little and the light has improved, better conditions for batting than this morning.
2:23pm 21st over: An edge from Clarke and you can hear the yelp of 'Catch!' from Aamer up here in the Lord's Media Centre. It drops short of the fielder.
A sweetly timed shot from Katich, perfectly into the gap in the field. Four runs takes him into the 20s.
2:19pm 20th over: Another bowling change and Mohammad Asif comes on at the Nursery End.
Gul dives to his right but the ball shoots past him off Katich's bat. Four runs to the Australia opener.
2:14pm 19th over: Two wickets down and both to Aamer - what a brilliant talent he is at just 18-years-old.
A lot being made of a clash between Aamer and Ponting as the Aussie skipper walked off. Storm in a tea cup if you ask me - Aamer was celebrating and not really looking where he was going.
2:10pm 18th over: A lot riding on Katich now, as Michael Clarke will take time to settle in. Unlike Ponting, Clarke has a great record at Lord's. He's on the Lord's Honours Boards.
2:03pm 17th over: A despairing dive by Aamer but that one from Ponting just beats him to the rope. Four runs for the Australia skipper.
More runs edge Australia past 50 runs. Ponting starting to show shades of his imperious best. Odd to think he's never scored even a half-century at Lord's. All those runs in his career but not even a 50 at Lord's... yet!
That put the mockers on Ponting! He's gone to a great catch from Amin at short-leg. Ponting played a good shot to a tough ball but Amin threw his hands at it and it stuck.
Australia 51-1 - Ponting c. Amin b. Aamer - 26
1:59pm 16th over: We'll try again with the 16th over - it's still Umar Gul replacing Afridi at the Nursery End.
Gul jags one in at Katich, who leaves it to more "ooohs" around Lord's as it darts just past the stumps.
1:57pm: Umpires back on the field and Ian Gould beckoning expansively to the Pavilion - players on their way.
1:46pm: Yes, the umpires stop play. It has definitely clouded over and got gloomy again. A shame as, typically, it was blazing sunshine during the lunch interval.
With any luck this cloud will skip past quickly and we could be underway again soon.
1:45pm 16th over: Afridi's seen enough of his own bowling, clearly! He takes himself off and it's Umar Gul back into the attack.
Umpires having a quick chat at midwicket - looks like they may offer the light soon. Oh dear.
1:42pm 15th over: Mohammed Aamer, who took the only wicket of the match so far today, is brought back at the Pavilion End.
1:39pm 14th over: Back out after lunch and Afridi brings himself on to bowl at the Nursery End - a man fielding close in at silly point.

1pm: And that's lunch.
Australia 36-1 at lunch
Katich and Ponting hanging in there well in tough circumstances - some good swing bowling from Pakistan, Aamer especially.
Don't forget our photo gallery for more of the latest action.
Grab yourself a sandwich or a cuppa etc. - don't go too far, we've got news of our latest great competition (free to enter of course) with more great prizes on offer.
12:56pm 13th over: Gul in what may be the last over before lunch - perhaps the penultimate one if he's quick.
12:52pm 12th over: Asif drifts onto Ponting's pads and with four slips and a gully still in place, Ponting just dinks it into the space at fine leg - four.
12:45pm 11th over: First bowling change but no let up for Australia - the dangerous Umar Gul replaces the wicket-taking Aamer.
Katich looked to let that one go but ended up turning his back on it and getting struck on the shoulder. Ouch.
12:40pm 10th over: Asif has Katich playing and missing for the umpteenth time. Nerve-jangling times for the batsmen.
Umar Amin lightning fast at short-leg - keeping Katich on his toes as he has to be sure to step back into his crease quickly.
12:37pm 9th over: Ponting's patience pays off - he gets a looser one from Asif and he helps it around the corner for four.
Umar Gul slides to make a good stop, to prevent another shot from Ponting bound for the boundary.

Watson watches his bails tumble 12:31pm 8th over: Here's a great picture from our man-on-the-spot Matt Bright, straight into our Day One Photo Gallery - it's Shane Watson, out bowled (and LBW!) to Aamer.
Ponting and Katich see out another over.
12:27pm 7th over: Ponting's presence always seems to have a settling influence for Australia.
Despite the Pakistan bowlers swinging the ball around like a boomerang, Ponting and Katich taking their time.
12:23pm 6th over: Katich has his first boundary of the match, firmly clipped into the leg side. Good shot.
12:14pm 5th over: Aamer has a loud appeal for LBW with Watson not playing a shot - the umpire turns him down.
Undeterred Aamer presses on a again Watson offers no shot but he's bowled!
Australia 8-1 - Watson b. Aamer - 4
Australia captain Ricky Ponting walks out to bat a little earlier than he'd have liked no doubt.
Ponting's first ball - drifts down the leg side, he steps over it and it beats Akmal too - four byes.
Replays show that umpire Gould gave Watson out LBW... as the ball trickled onto the stumps!
12:14pm 4th over: Afridi setting the standards in the field for Pakistan - a good diving stop to cut that one off from Watson.
12:10pm 3rd over: Goodness, Katich almost played on there. Some quick thinking saved him though - as the ball rolled towards his stumps he stroked it away with his bat, just in time.
Later in the over, Aamer looked to have Katich LBW there but umpire Ian Gould spotted an edge - "Not out" the verdict.
12:04pm 2nd over: Mohammad Asif will bowl from the Nursery End. Pakistan with an attacking field: four slips and a gully in place.
First boundary of the day, a smooth drive from Watson and the ball trundles up the Lord's slope rapidly. Four runs.
12 noon 1st over: Mohammad Aamer delivers the first ball of this historic match at Lord's. It's a little wayward and it beats Kamran Akmal behind the stumps - the batsmen run a bye.
"Oooohs" around the ground, Aamer got some great movement away from the batsman there.
11:57am: Players on the field - Pakistan trotting out to the fielding positions. Watson and Katich stride out too, playing ghost shots as they go. We're underway in minutes - stick with us!
11:50am: Just a reminder, we are aware our live scores pop-up (above) shows the wrong match at the moment - it will update once this match starts, honest!
11:42am: This should be a cracking match. Pakistan's attack should relish these conditions. It may well be a tough afternoon for the Australia batsmen.
11:37am: Pakistan team: Butt; Farhat; Ali; Amin; U Akmal; K Akmal; Afridi; Amir; Gul; Kaneria; Asif.
Two Test debutants in each side. Ali and Amin for Pakistan; Smith and Paine for the Aussies.
11:35am: Australia team: (which was confirmed yesterday): Shane Watson; Simon Katich; Ricky Ponting; Michael Clarke; Mike Hussey; Marcus North; Tim Paine; Steve Smith; Mitchell Johnson; Ben Hilfenhaus; Doug Bollinger.
11:32am: Toss news Shahid Afridi tosses the coin (as the 'home' captain) and wins the toss too. He'll insert Australia. Pakistan win the toss & bowl.
11:31am: Just to familiarise you, the green and white icons (below) are the ones we're using for Pakistan events today. These rather smart looking green and yellow (gold?) icons are, unsurprisingly, for Australia.
11:28am: Teams on the outfield warming-up. Shahid Afridi donning a very natty blazer.
11:23am: Word is the toss will be at 11:30am. Hurrah.
That should mean we're on for the start of play at midday.
11:20am: The umpires are out and they look fairly happy... we wait for the verdict.
Just to say, we do know that the 'live scoreboard' link above shows England v Australia. A small quirk of the system - it will show this match the minute the first ball is bowled (which will update the system). Bear with us.
11:06am: Inspection due soon.
Ringing the five minute bell today, to signal the approaching start, Australia batsman and Ashes winner Justin Langer - now part of the Aussie's coaching set-up.

Ponting examines the Lord's pitch 10:56am: Ricky Ponting has been out there, having a close-up look at the Lord's pitch as this picture atests.
I'd wager Mitchell Johnson and his bowlers are nudging him towards bowling if he wins the toss too.
10:44am: MCC Head of Cricket John Stephenson, a former England international himself, talking to BBC Test Match Special's Christopher Martin-Jenkins (who is MCC President Designate himself).
Stephenson's tip for playing at Lord's: "Look up, not down." he'd fancy bowling first if he won the toss.
10:41am: That explains it... they've delayed the inspection until 11:15am. Another frustrating delay, probably more to do with the gloom than the moistness in the pitch.
The seam bowlers will be rubbing their hands with these conditions though.
10:33am: No sign of the umpires just yet - perhaps their watch shows a different time to mine. Weather dry if a little gloomy.
10:10am: News confirmed of a delayed start. The umpires are not quite happy with the dampness on the pitch. There will be a pitch inspection at 10:30am.
9:53am: Hello from a slightly damp Lord's. Not quite the heatwave we've been enjoying of late in NW8. Fear not though, the covers are off, they're rolling the pitch (always a good sign) and we've got fingers crossed for a 10:30am start, as scheduled. Toss at around 10am.
We'll be covering the match live and direct from the Lord's, the Home of Cricket. Stick with us for the latest score updates, action, photos and everything from around the Ground. It's the next best thing to being here!
