Open Day, 9th August: free entry

Date released: 1 August 2007

Come and visit 'The Home of Cricket' for free. On Thursday 9th August, MCC will be hosting an open day at Lord's, with free entry to all.

There will be an Activity Zone plus free cricket coaching for kids and, of course, cricket for everyone to enjoy. A men's match will take place on the main ground, with a women's game on the Nursery Ground.

Why not apply your saving on entry to enjoy the other delights around the Ground? The Lord's Shop, bars, restaurants and MCC Museum will all be open, and Tours of Lord's will be available too.

Gates open at 10am.

MCC Museum

The MCC Museum has been collecting cricketing artefacts since 1864. Admire cricketing equipment used by legends of the game, from WG Grace memorabilia to Brian Lara's (many) record-breaking bats. For just £3 for adults (only £1 for children) you can brush with cricketing history.

Tours of Lord's

For just a few pounds more, Tours of Lord's incorporate the Museum and also take in the other famous sights and locations at 'The Home of Cricket'.

Follow the steps taken by your heroes from the Pavilion Dressing Rooms down into the famous Long Room. Walk on around the historic Ground to the modern, hi-tech Investec Media Centre, from where Test Match Special is broadcast.

The Tour is £10 for adults; £7 for seniors/students and just £6 for children. Family tickets and group discounts are available too.

Be a blood donor

MCC are also pleased to announce that a National Blood Serive blood donor van will be at the Grace Gate entrance to the Ground.

To be potentially eligible to donate you must be between 17-60 years old and over 7st 12lbs. Your blood will be supplied to hundreds of hospitals in England and North Wales. "Do something amazing. Give blood."

We hope the donor van will be busy, so to help smooth the process, why not register as a blood donor now:

More details, events and offers will be unveiled on Lords.org in the build-up to the Open Day.
