Second Test bulletin: Day three
Date released: 27 January 2012

Panesar's wickets gave England the upper hand
Monty Panesar and Stuart Broad helped England to a dominant position on day three of the second Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.
Broad made an unbeaten 58 in just 62 balls in the morning session to take England to a commanding 70-run first innings lead.
Panesar then took three top-order wickets as Pakistan were reduced to 54-4 shortly after Tea, with England seemingly closing in on victory.
Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq – the least experienced of the Pakistan top order – provided some stern resistance though, with an unbeaten partnership of 76.
The lead is 55 and with Saeed Ajmal leading their attack on a pitch turning extravagantly, Pakistan will know that even a modest target will give them a good chance.
Broad batted aggressively in the morning session, after Matt Prior fell early for just three.
Together with Ian Bell, who made a solid 29 before being trapped LBW by Umar Gul, he took England past Pakistan with a series of clean strikes.
A huge six over long-on brought up the 300 and together with cameos from Graeme Swann and James Anderson, England secured a lead of 70.
Their spin pair had taken four wickets by the time Pakistan passed that total, with Panesar at his accurate best.
After trapping Hafeez LBW he added Younus Khan with a beauty which turned past the outside edge and took off-stump.
Misbah also fell LBW but Ali and Shafiq weathered the storm with some watchful batting, before scoring more freely as the ball softened.
