An International Initiative

The Spirit of Cricket is a truly international campaign - and MCC has taken its message all over the world.

Since the turn of the century, MCC has distributed a range of promotional materials around the globe, including thousands of MCC Spirit of Cricket cards, featuring the game's best cricketers - from Andrew Flintoff and Brett Lee to Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. In recent years, these cards have been translated into many different languages and distributed to dozens of cricket-playing nations, including India, Sri Lanka, France, Greece and Norway.

In addition, MCC's Spirit of Cricket initiative has been endorsed by cricket's national and international governing bodies. For instance, Cricket Australia has amended its Code of Conduct, to help uphold the Spirit of Cricket, while the International Cricket Council (ICC) is also supporting, very strongly, MCC's campaign. Indeed, a Spirit of Cricket Award has been presented at the ICC Awards since the inauguration of the ceremony in September 2004. The award, which is voted for each by ICC match officials and ICC Full Member country captains, was presented in 2007 to Sri Lanka, while England won in 2005 after their memorable home Ashes victory.
