History of the Lord's Tavern

A view of the Lord's TavernFor well over a century, the Lord's Tavern has provided cricket-lovers with a haven for celebration or reflection.

There has been a hostelry on the St. John's Wood site since 1868 when the architect Edward Paraire, who specialised in pubs and chapels, designed a building, located within the ground, with a graceful wrought-iron balcony.

His building was controversially demolished almost a century later, when the south-west corner of Lord's was redeveloped, and the current Lord's Tavern was built (next to the Grace Gate) on St John's Wood Road in 1967.

The light, airy, stylish interior
In March 2011, the Lord's Tavern was relaunched as a laid back dining experience complete with wood paneling in subtle hues with soft decor.

The Tavern now offers a reasonably priced menu of family and local favourites, as well as an extensive range of beers, wines and Champagnes.

For community relations reasons, the Lord's Tavern is closed to the public on major matchdays.
