Matthew Walker

Erstwhile scorer for his junior school’s 3rd XI and latterly an avid watcher of cricket, Matt Walker brings boundless energy and a scorer’s eye for statistics to the Ball-by Ball commentary team.

Much of Matt’s interest in sport is derived from his affiliation with the plucky underdog, perhaps reflecting his own limited prowess on the playing-field. He thus realised he was hooked on cricket when he saw Gladstone Small score 59 at The Oval to save England from following-on in the 6th Test of an Ashes series they were already losing 4-0.

Matt lives in Lewisham with his wife Lesley and children Imogen and Rory. He has lived in London for 14 years, following an itinerant childhood spent in Canada (where he was born), Essex, Brazil, Northamptonshire, Rutland and Devon.

When not working as a solicitor for City law firm Barlow Lyde & Gilbert, Matt enjoys singing with renowned choir Canticum, watching Southend United, and singing while watching Southend United.
