Nick von Schlippe

The worst cricketer ever to have picked up a bat (according to his captain at school), Nick von Schlippe had no interest in the game until the afternoon of August 2nd 1981, when he walked into a room with a TV showing Ian Botham’s last over at the Edgbaston Test. A quarter century of (mostly) highly enjoyable cricketing summers later, he is delighted to be spending a second season commentating for the Ball by Ball service. A keen games enthusiast, he was a junior chess champion, plays bridge and poker socially, turns out as centre half for a local football team, and recently has even made an attempt to prove his former doubters wrong by revitalising his cricket career. Away from these sporting arenas Nick works in theatre and TV as an actor, voice over artist, writer and director.
