Richard Leslie

Born in Northumberland, Richard was brought up on a diet of cricket by his father and grandfather who both played for non-league St Georges Rovers CC, in and around Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Unlike his Great-Great Uncle (CFH Leslie) who represented England on the famous Ivo Bligh Ashes Tour to Australia – when the urn was regained – he only managed to represent Northumberland U13s before moving to Rugby School where he played for the 1st XI for 3 years – opening the batting with Richard Montgomerie (ex-Northants and Sussex) with whom he holds the record for the school’s highest partnership. University at Bristol followed by a move to London, when he joined the Saints Cricket Club - an established nomadic naval team based in Sussex. It was around this time that he also became a member of MCC. He now lives in a small village in Gloucestershire and being self-employed enables him to dedicate time to the Ball by Ball initiative; he is very much look forward to the season ahead.
