A.D. Mathews 102 v EnglandBack to boards

Angelo Mathews made the Lord’s Honours Boards for the first time when he hit 102 versus England in the summer of 2014.

During Sri Lanka’s first innings of the match, Mathews had already seen team-mate Kumar Sangakarra make his first appearance on the Honours Boards and was determined to join him with a classy century that lasted 229 minutes.

Mathews’ innings saw him hit 12 fours, facing 172 balls as the Sri Lanka captain helped guide his team to a score of 453 all out in their first innings.

Helped by some dogged batting from Mathews in the second innings, Sri Lanka would hold on to a sublime draw at the end of Day Five by just one wicket to seal one of the finest Test matches seen at HQ.
