In partnership with Chance to Shine, MCC hosted the Spirit of Cricket Open day on 20 May 2014.
600 children aged 10-11 years, from 20 primary schools took over for the day to play cricket on the Main Ground, receive cookery lessons from MCC chefs and learn more about the Home of Cricket through special Lord's Bicentenary-themed tours.
It was also an opportunity for MCC and Chance to Shine to inspire budding cricketers on the fundamentals and the Spirit of Cricket.
A special assembly was delivered by Mark Nicholas, which highlighted the aims of the partnership which includes spreading the Spirit of Cricket message in more than 5,000 schools.
He was joined by England Women’s Cricket team members Lydia Greenway, Danielle Hazell, Jenny Gunn, Heather Knight, Tammy Beaumont, Lauren Winfield and Kathryn Cross, as well as Chris Tremlett and MCC President Mike Gatting.
