John Stephenson- MCC have strong side Published: 23 March 2012

John Stephenson, MCC Head of Cricket, has told Lord's TV that he believes the MCC teams he has put together for the 2012 Champion County trip are well balanced and strong.

MCC visit the UAE on their 2012 Champion County trip, facing Lancashire in Abu Dhabi and competing in the Emirates Airline T20 competition in Dubai.

When asked about the teams Stephenson has put together he said:

"I'm really pleased. There's a good blend of players, there's some experienced players in Ramprakash, Blackwell, Hamish Marshall and Rana Naved.

"There is a very good mixture of 1st and 2nd division players and also a couple of young players in Moeen Ali and Lewis Gregory who will be looking to make their mark."

Rahul Dravid will play in the Twenty20 team and Stephenson was thrilled to recieve a call from Dravid following his retirement:

"Rahul Dravid rang me yesterday saying how excited he was to come over to Dubai and that now he's retired he's got more time to play for MCC! I was absolutely delighted to hear that"

In summary Stephenson believes MCC have every chance of repeating their 2011 Champion County success:

"MCC has a global feel and a very, very strong team and I'm sure we'll compete very well"
