Adam Rossington's stunning cameo of 41 off just 20 balls fired Middlesex to a Duckworth/Lewis affected victory over Kent to start their Friends Life t20 campaign with a win.
Rossington's knock ensured a narrow 4-wicket victory with two balls remaining, as they reached 111/6 in 11.4 overs.
South Africa star Vernon Phillander had put the hosts in pole position with a brilliant display of bowling earlier in the innings, taking 4/8 in three overs.
But Rossington made sure Matt Coles had a night to forget, the seamer conceding 28 in just 1.4 overs at the end of the night..
Earlier Middlesex's bowlers had operated effectively in restricting Kent to 129 in 15 overs. Kyle Mills had a decent start to his Middlesex career, taking 1/25.
