Peter Trego struck a rapid 81 as Somerset comfortably beat Middlesex in a YB40 match in Taunton.
The all-rounder smashed eight fours and two sixes at the top of the order, sharing a partnership of 56 with fellow opener Marcus Trescothick and 110 with Arul Suppiah, who made 60.
Somerset, chasing 252 on a fast scoring ground, never looked a doubt like losing the match from the moment Trego got into the groove - Corey Collymore taking particular punishment, conceding 45 in his fours opvers.
Joe Denly had earlier top scored for Middlesex, making 50, while Dawid Malan scored 49. Steve Kirby was the pick of the Somerset bowlers, taking 4/52.
There was some good news off the field for Middlesex however, with the news that Adam Voges will extend his stint at the county through the Investec Ashes series as cover for Chris Rogers.
