Middlesex have signed Australia international Dan Christian to play for the club in this summer’s NatWest T20 Blast.
Christian is expected to arrive in the UK around 12 May and will be available to play in all of Middlesex’s T20 Blast Group matches.
The opportunity to play at the Home of Cricket is a dream come true
The 30-year-old has significant T20 experience having played 125 short form matches in his career to date. He also has experience of winning T20 competitions having lifted silverware with a number of the T20 teams he has played for.
The all-rounder has taken more than 100 wickets and struck over 1,600 runs so far in his career.
Strong performances during Australia’s 2013/14 domestic season saw Christian regain his place in Australia’s one-day and T20 sides, with his last international appearance being at the recently completed ICC World T20 in Bangladesh.
Commenting on the signing of Christian, Middlesex CCC’s Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser, said: “When we sat down to identify the type of cricketer Middlesex CCC required for this summer’s NatWest T20 Blast a seam bowling all-rounder was top of our list.
"We are therefore delighted to have attained the services of such an experienced, talented and dangerous cricketer."
On signing for the Panthers, Christian commented: “I am delighted to have signed with Middlesex for the 2014 Natwest T20 Blast.
"The opportunity to play at the Home of Cricket is a dream come true and I can't wait to pull on a Middlesex shirt for the first time.
"Kicking off the tournament with a double header at Lords against Sussex and Essex in front of what I am sure will be a full house promises to be one of the highlights of my career.
"I look forward to helping Eoin [Morgan] and the boys challenge for silverware this year!”
