Sir Ian Botham's 2014 MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey Lecture is to be broadcast live on the Lord's YouTube channel on Wednesday 3 September.

Botham, arguably England's finest ever cricketer, will deliver the annual address at 6:30pm BST on 3 September in the Nursery Pavilion at Lord's.

Tickets for the event are sold out, but the lecture will be available to watch live around the world through YouTube, and on Lords.org. Previous lectures have been broadcast live as audio, but not as video.

Botham will use the address to highlight his thoughts on the state of the game.

Previous lecturers include Tony Greig, Richie Benaud, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Kumar Sangakkara, who delivered a famously impassioned speech on cricket in his native Sri Lanka in 2011.

The speech will be followed by a panel discussin, chaired by Mark Nicholas and featuring Botham, Matt Prior and another high profile cricketing guest yet to be confirmed.

In addition to being broadcast live, the full speech will be available to watch again after the event, as well as highlights and clips from the panel discussion.
