Celebrations for the MCC v Rest of the World match at Lord’s on Saturday 5 July have begun with a gala dinner in the Nursery Pavilion.
The players involved in the match were joined by other famous names from the world of cricket, in an event hosted by Mark Nicholas.
600 people attended the event, with an auction helping to raise thousands for the MCC Foundation.
The dinner kicked off a historic few days at Lord’s as cricketing legends help to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the current ground.
India legend Sachin Tendulkar will captain MCC, with Rest of the World being led by Australia’s Shane Warne.
During the dinner Warne recalled his version of events for the 1993 'Ball of the Century' which dismissed current MCC President Mike Gatting during a panel discussion with Nicholas.
Rahul Dravid, Adam Gilchrist, Kevin Pietersen and Shahid Afridi are amongst the illustrious names playing in the match, which will be broadcast on TV channels around the world, and with an exclusive ball-by-ball commentary on Lords.org
