Lord’s has staged MCC v Rest of the World matches before - indeed for the Club’s Bicentenary in 1987 the current MCC President Mike Gatting captained the Club and hit a brilliant century against an attack featuring Imran Khan, Kapil Dev and Courtney Walsh.
Gatting will manage the MCC XI for this year’s match, while the Rest of the World XI will be managed by ex-South Africa all-rounder and MCC World Cricket committee member Shaun Pollock.
As well as the men’s game there will also be an MCC v Rest of the World Women’s match on Monday 19 May, which is the first time a women’s Rest of the World side has ever been assembled. Tickets for that fixture are available.
