Cockspur Cup Final - preview

Last year's beaten finalists Kibworth return to Lord's to take on Malden Wanderers in this year's Cockspur Cup Final at Lord's on Tuesday 9 September.

Match information

For this 45-over match the gates open at 10am, with play scheduled to start at 11am.

Our team of volunteer commentators will be providing their excellent free audio commentary on the match - available around the Ground to partially sighted spectators, via the headsets available from the Head Stewards' Office.

The commentary will also be streamed, live online via Lords.org. If you cannot make it to the ground, be sure to click-on and listen in.

Kibworth

Kibworth CC's logoKibworth lost to Bromley on the last ball in last year's thrilling final.

The Leicestershire side will be hoping to repeat their success of 2004 when they beat Ockbrook & Borrowash by five wickets to take the title.

They beat Sandiacre Town in their semi-final. England U19 star, Greg Smith, in partnership with Sunny Patel put on 72 for the first wicket as they successfully chased down Sandiacre's 168-9.

Nick Ferraby scored an unbeaten 44 to see Kibworth home, clinching a four-wicket win.

Malden Wanderers

Malden Wanderers CC crestBased in New Malden, Surrey, the Wanderers won't have far to travel to 'The Home of Cricket'.

Malden boast England's most capped player, Alec Stewart, amongst their famous former players.

They went to Waltham for their semi-final and faced a bowler friendly wicket.

All out for just 133 they were up against it - Neil Mander and Simon Crampton offering the only real resistance to a sharp Waltham attack.

The Wanderers' own bowlers took advantage of the conditions too, skittling Waltham for just 109 on their own pitch.

Michael Cottrell took 2-15 and Jon Albert 2-17 as Malden took the game to Waltham but it was Crampton added figurse of 4-16 to seal victory, a place in the final and a man-of-the-match award for his efforts.
