James Anderson celebrates a wicket with the last ball of day two
England produced a disciplined bowling effort to stay in the hunt on day two of the second Test against Pakistan in Dubai.
Pakistan closed on 288-7 thanks to half centuries from openers Mohammad Hafeez (88) and Taufeeq Umar (58) and 52 from captain Misbah-ul-Haq and remain in command of the Test with a lead of 96.
But Andrew Strauss' men will be delighted with the efforts of their bowling attack, who took seven wickets for just 174 on a batsman friendly track after breaking the 114-run opening partnership.
Stuart Broad claimed two wickets before the break, and the tourists were incredibly disciplined throughout the afternoon and evening sessions.
Graeme Swann trapped top-scorer Hafeez LBW shortly after the interval, and part-time seam of seamer Jonathan Trott chipped in with the key wicket of Younis Khan, also LBW.
Misbah and Adnan Akmal resisted after Tea with a steady partnership which looked like breaking England's resolve, but Swann won a DRS review to claim the skipper.
James Anderson then ensured England remain well in the match heading into the third day, clean bowling Abdur Rehman with a beauty from the last ball of the day.
