MCC's Head of Cricket, Tony Dodemaide, to leave Lord's for top job in Western Australia

Date released: 20 February 2004

MCC's Head of Cricket, Tony Dodemaide (right), is leaving Lord's to become the Chief Executive Officer of the Western Australia Cricket Association.

In his five years with the Club, Tony played a key role in several major MCC projects - including the re-laying of the outfield and the development of portable pitches. In addition, MCC's strengthened its position as the world's most active cricket-playing and cricket-promoting club. Its Out-Match programme put renewed emphasis on encouraging schools cricket; its Young Cricketers programme was expanded to include female players; and its Indoor Cricket School increased its commitment to working with young players, in partnership with organisations such as Capital Kids Cricket.

Finally, in planning its international tours, the Club has worked increasingly closely with the International Cricket Council, to maximise the tours' effectiveness in cricket development terms.

MCC's Secretary & Chief Executive, Roger Knight, said: "In five years, Tony has made an impressive impact at Lord's - both personally and professionally. He has always been an extremely popular member of our senior management team. While we all congratulate him on his exciting new appointment, which is richly deserved, we shall be very sorry to see him go.

He leaves Lord's well-placed for the future. In particular, we are indebted to Tony for managing the outfield project so impressively. Despite its scale and complexity, it was delivered on-time and below budget - thanks, in very large part, to the meticulous way in which he planned the project, selected the contractors and managed the work.

Everyone at MCC wishes Tony every success in the future."
