Pakistan welcome back Shahid Afridi as captain for their ODI series with England. The fourth ODI takes place, under the floodlights, at Lord's on September 20.

The 30-year-old sensationally resigned the captaincy of the Test side at Lord’s in June after the first Test with Australia ended in defeat.

Shahid Afridi returns as captain for the limited overs series Afridi, who has struck 272 sixes in his ODI career, is on schedule to become only the 16th player to play 300 One Day International’s when the series reaches Lord’s for the day night fixture.

Twenty20 memories

Afridi may have some bad memories of NW8 from earlier this summer, but his previous visit in 2009 saw him pick up the man-of-the-match award as Pakistan won the ICC World Twenty20 Final against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan chased down 139 to ease to victory with Afridi top-scoring with an unbeaten 54 from only 40 balls.

Several members of the current squad were a part of that side and Afridi will be hoping to relive some of that glory in September.

Return on the 'Rawlpindi Express'

Veteran speedster Shoaib Akhtar is included in the Pakistan ODI squad Legendary quick bowler Shoaib Akhtar is another to return to the limited overs side after missing out during the Test series.

The ‘Rawlpindi Express’ has played four One Day internationals at the Home of Cricket with mixed success, picking up five wickets at 35 runs apiece.
