The West Indies have been confirmed as the opposition for the first Test match at Lord's in 2009. The 'Windies' fill in for Sri Lanka and will come to Lord's on 6-10 May.

Sri Lanka had originally been lined up to fill the touring slot vacated by Zimbabwe after their withdrawal from the Test arena.

However, many Sri Lanka players were already contracted to the Indian Premier League for the same period.

The West Indies have now stepped into the breach and will face England at Lord's for a Test match, starting on Wednesday 6 May.

The MCC Ticket Office is working on arrangements for the Test and ticket information will be available shortly and published on Lords.org.

Bumper year at Lord's

The West Indies Test adds to what is already a busy and exciting fixture list at Lord's for 2009.

Already confirmed are: the ICC World Twenty20 - including the opening ceremony; three group matches; four Super Eight games; and both the men's and women's finals.

Then, Australia arrive for the Ashes...

Lord's will host the second Test on 16-20 July, followed by two one-day internationals.

Hospitality places for both the World Twenty20 and Ashes are available now.

There's more to come too - with the traditional season opening MCC v Champion County fixture; Middlesex's Twenty20 Cup defence and more.
