MCC Young Cricketer, Robert Woodman, has signed for Gloucestershire CCC, days after scoring a century against their second XI.

Talented batsman Woodman only joined the Young Cricketers in 2008 but, after just a few months under Head Coach Clive Radley's tuition, has already stepped up to county level.

The 21-year-old made his LV County Championship debut for Gloucestershire on Wednesday 24 September, against Essex.

Despite his recent batting success, after Gloucestershire lost the toss he found himself in the field - taking the wicket of Essex youngster Jaik Mickleburgh with his left-arm seam bowling.

Impressive century

It wasn't his first-class debut though having already played in the shorter form of the game for Somerset.

The skillful left-hander top scored in that match with 129.

Step up a level

Gloucestershire CCC chief executive, Tom Richardson said: "Rob Woodman played superbly for the MCC YC’s against our 2nd XI last week, in a knock that was considered to be the best against our 2nd XI all year.

"We are very keen to see what he can do given an opportunity to step up a level."

Everyone at MCC congratulates Robert on his achievement and wish him the best for the future.
