Young Cricket Photographer 2007: apply now

Date released: 6 February 2007

An MCC Young Cricket Photographer is to be appointed for the fifth successive year.

The successful candidate will benefit from a unique combination of financial support (worth up to £7,500), professional exposure (through MCC publications and the Lord’s website) and access to both (i) fixtures at Lord's and (ii) the out-matches played, across the United Kingdom, by the Club's men's and women's teams.

In addition, depending on progress, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to join one of the five overseas tours to be undertaken by MCC teams during the course of 2007.

Above all, MCC's appointee will be mentored by one of the world's top cricket photographers - Graham Morris.

It is envisaged that the MCC Young Cricket Photographer 2007 will be aged between 20 and 29. He or she should have a demonstrable interest in cricket, a talent for action and creative photography, access to a good quality digital camera plus suitable lenses, and a genuine interest in becoming a professional sports photographer.

By Monday 12th February, applicants should submit a completed application form (see right, below) and examples of their work to: Iain Wilton, Head of Communications, Marylebone Cricket Club, Lord's Cricket Ground, St John's Wood, London NW8 8QN.

The successful applicant will be expected to take up his/her position in mid-April, for MCC v Champion County (Sussex) at Lord's. Overall, he/she will be required to cover around 25 days' cricket during the course of the 2007 season - including each major match at 'the home of cricket'.
