MCC Cricket Academy

The MCC Cricket Academy in association with Anglo IndianThe MCC Cricket Academy has now reopened after major refurbishment in late 2011.

The MCC Cricket Academy has long been regarded as one of the world's finest cricket coaching venues and the current upgrades are intended to keep it that way.

The new-look MCC Cricket Academy has had the following upgrades implemented:

  • New, more efficient and greener lane lighting installed
  • New netting installed
  • New 'Supergrasse' lane playing surface and surrounding areas in place
  • Deep clean of all external & internal walls, high level sails and high level steel work
  • Refurbished dressing rooms & showers
  • New carpet throughout

World class facility

Founded in the 1970s the MCC Cricket Academy has produced some of the world's finest cricketers.

Open to the public, the new Academy, will have state-of-the-art facilities, (including the latest Hawk-Eye™ technology) and will continue to help a wide range of cricketers - from elite players to absolute beginners - develop their batting, bowling and fielding skills.

Regular users include Middlesex players, MCC's Young Cricketers and international cricketers preparing to appear in major matches at Lord's. During the 2011 summer, India legend Sachin Tendulkar spent several weeks preparing for the series against England at the MCC Academy.

Members of the public are welcome too. Facilities include:

  • a 19-yard run-up for bowlers
  • a variable speed bowling machine for batsmen
  • a purpose built Supergrasse playing surface
  • a bar & coffee shop for spectators (or tired players!)
  • a smoke-free environment, open seven-days a week

High quality coaching is available throughout the year, with intensive courses being staged during the school holidays at Christmas, Easter and in the summer.

The MCC Cricket Academy plays host to a wide variety of other events during the course of the year including the annual London Youth Games.
