Lord’s Cricket Ground, the home of cricket and owned by Marylebone Cricket Club (“MCC”), is renowned worldwide for staging international cricket matches with up to 28,500 spectators in attendance. Lord’s is a stunning venue steeped in history and charm. From the grandeur of the Long Room in the Grade II* listed Pavilion, to the modernity and style of the J.P. Morgan Media Centre, the Ground offers a dazzling array of possibilities for events of all types.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Senior Kitchen Team for a talented Executive Sous Chef to work alongside a Brigade of 12 full time chefs lead by the Head Chef in continuing to deliver innovative food design over a range of cuisines, service styles, varied catering numbers including MCC members, corporate client (Meetings and Events) and Cricket related match days. Maintaining the high standards that are expected by guests of Lord’s.

The role varies greatly day to day from small, private events up to international matches.  Key duties include managing and developing both full time and casual team’s creative style through the production team, whilst maintaining an exciting and motivating environment.  The role requires office duties, excellent time management with planning and organising ahead of time, working alongside the senior kitchen team and office in delivering seasonal menus and costings on time, ensuring adherence to MCC and legislative hygiene and safety standards.

Required skills and experience

With a passion for food, the ideal candidate will have gained his or her experience in a fine dining environment and will also have worked in a multi-site operation, ideally in a sporting venue. Some experience of managing and developing staff is essential as well as good working knowledge of budgets and financial planning. Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are also essential.  An NVQ Level 3 in Food Hygiene is essential.

Working knowledge of MS Office is also essential, along with the ability to prioritise and organise workloads – both your own and that of your team.  Significant flexibility is required for attendance on match days and working extended hours, including weekends.
