An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Catering department for a Sous Chef to join our team in the Tavern and work alongside the Tavern Head Chef to ensure delivery of high end British pub food, including captain’s lounge hospitality and match day catering during the season, whilst maintaining the high standards that are expected by guests of Lord’s.
The role varies greatly day to day as you will be expected to manage the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef, whilst catering for small private events, delivering innovative British cuisine and up to international Test matches. Key duties include managing and developing the casual team’s creative style, maintaining an exciting and motivating team environment. The role will assist with the seasonal menu design, costing, and stock control, ensuring adherence to the Club and legislative hygiene and safety standards.
Required Skills and Experience
With a passion for food, the ideal candidate will have gained his or her experience in a similar role with a high volume, food led business environment. Some experience of managing and developing staff is essential as well as good understanding of budgets and financial planning. Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are also essential. Level 2 in Food Hygiene is also required.
Working knowledge of MS Office is also essential, along with the ability to prioritise and organise workloads – both your own and that of your team. Significant flexibility is required for attendance on match days and working extended hours, including weekends.
