Brazil and Chile Tour Profiles

Michael Foster (Manager)

"My involvement in cricket commenced in Australia when my love for AFL football was superseded by my cricket ability which became my true passion. I have been very fortunate to represent Victoria, Australia and the MCC during my time playing the game however my love of the game has developed from my involvement with clubs in Australia and the UK.

"With 12 years at Richmond and St Kilda in Australia, stints in Yorkshire, West Herts, Brondesbury and for the last 12 years Reigate Priory Cricket Club, my love of the game and the people involved has become both deep and wide ranging.

"My playing involvement with the MCC commenced in 2003 and I have toured with the MCC regularly as a player, however this will be my first managerial experience which I am very excited about. My drive is to see the game played with passion and a competitive edge but always with respect and the understanding that we are custodians of the true spirit of the game."

Karl Pearson (Captain) – Sevenoaks Vine CC

"I'm a Right-Handed Opener/Top order batsman that can bowl medium pace seamers. A bits and pieces cricketer if ever there was! I am 43 years old, Married to Sara and have 2 children, Alfie 6 and Lilly 4! I thought my days would be up playing decent standard cricket when I reached 40 but I am managing to hang on in and in 2017 I have played 17 out of 18 matches in the 1st XI in the Kent Premier League!"

Joe Barrs - Saffron Walden Cricket Club

"I have been fortunate enough to tour with the MCC to Uganda (2013) and to Africa again in 2016, as captain of the Namibia tour. I remain a passionate Club and Minor Counties cricketer (Cambridgeshire), captaining my Club side, Saffron Walden for the 3rd successive season in 2017. Having spent four years at the University of Exeter studying Politics and playing cricket, I moved to London in 2015 and began my career in the City for the Management Consultant, BearingPoint.

Away from cricket/work, I enjoy playing hockey, tennis, squash and golf. I also completed my first marathon and triathlon in 2017."

Rohan Bhome - Buckhurst Hill Cricket Club

"I qualified as a playing member of the MCC in 2015 and have thoroughly enjoyed representing such a prestigious club. I grew up playing cricket in Essex and have played for Buckhurst Hill Cricket Club since the age of six as well as representing various representative sides. As a cricketer, I like playing competitively to try and win but in a good spirit. I enjoy bowling leg spin because invariably something is happening with either the batsmen hitting boundaries or wickets falling (often the former unfortunately!).

Away from cricket, I am a qualified doctor and work as a Psychiatrist, sharing my time between research and seeing patients. Other interests include a bit of travelling, reading and spending time with family."

Evan Flowers – North Middlesex CC

"I am 35, came to the UK as an overseas cricketer from Australia and joined North Middlesex in 2006. I began a strange love affair with London and its cricket culture, and have been here for 12 years. In parallel, I took up a career in London with a large international law firm, which is still my profession.

"I enjoy the mateship and hijinx of MCC tours. I would describe myself as a respectful but entertaining tourist. It would be a great honour to represent MCC abroad and help to spread the gospel of cricket."

Mark Fowler - Twyford House CC

"I have been a full playing member since 2010. Since qualifying I have made myself available for, and played in, lots of out matches each year. I have been match managing games since 2011. I am a top order batsman and bowl right arm off spin. I am a social and friendly person and think I would be a good addition to a tour party!"

Doug Mulholland- Hartlepool CC

"I am a PE teacher from Northallerton in North Yorkshire. For the dozen years I have played cricket as a professional in the North Yorkshire South Durham ECB Premier League.

"Other interests include Rugby Union in which I am currently 1st fifteen captain of Northallerton RUFC, two seasons ago playing at Twickenham in the final of the National Junior Vase."

William Rudge – Bristol CC

Ajoy Soni – Harrow St Mary’s

"I play my club cricket in the Middlesex league for Harrow St Mary's as a top order batsman. I have been lucky enough to attend a few non-MCC international cricket tours to Uganda and Far East - both were great experiences.

"I work in strategy consultancy in London and enjoy a round of golf over the weekend."

Richard Soulsby – North Mymms CC

"I'm Richard Soulsby, originally from West Yorkshire but now playing my cricket in Hertfordshire for North Mymms CC. Away from cricket, I work as an asset manager for DLL, a Dutch leasing company based in Watford & my hobbies are golf and cycling. I'm looking forward to playing some good cricket with likeminded people and hopefully celebrating some hard earned victories."

Reinhardt Strydom - Phoenix Cricket Club - Dublin, Ireland

"I played for Ireland, Captained Ireland A, Leinster Lightning, clubs in Ireland, Boland Academy (SA), University of Stellenbosch (SA) & Hermanus CC (SA). LH Opening batsman and L-Arm off-spin. I'm easy going, laid back and enjoy meeting new people and making friends. Play cricket hard on the field within the spirit and afterwards socialise with opposition. Love coaching and enjoy helping young cricketers develop and improve whether they play with or against me, I will have chats with them and sometimes arrange session with them to help their game. Enjoy touring and visiting new places. If on the tours, i will be able to help and coach young cricketers from the opposition teams."

Fabian Taylor - Plumtree CC

"I play for Plumtree 1st XI in the Nottinghamshire Premier League having moved to West Bridgford, Nottingham two years ago. Previously I had played for Kibworth Cricket Club in the Leicestershire Leagues since a junior. I am Plumtree's 1st XI wicket keeper batting in the middle/lower order. I attended the University of Nottingham where I studied Spanish & Contemporary Chinese Studies which involved a year abroad in both Spain and China.

"Since finishing university over four years ago, I have worked in Financial Services and am now a Independent Financial Adviser working for Nelsons Solicitors in Nottingham. I have the UKCC Level 2 coaching qualification but have not done any coaching since finishing university due to exam commitments with work.  I am also a keen squash player playing for Rushcliffe Squash Club."

George Thurstance – Flitwick CC

"I am a person who is committed both on and off the field to cricket and everything that surrounds it. I believe it is important to uphold the ethos of the MCC and the tour itself whilst embracing the experience of the hosting nation. I am a team player and enjoy the experiencing success within this team environment.

"I have represented various teams during my career including Bedfordshire CCC for the past 6 seasons where have been vice-captain as of the start of last year. I am also captain of my home club Flitwick whom I re-joined after representing the Cardiff and Glamorgan MCCU whilst at Cardiff University.

"I am more than comfortable coaching all age groups as I have been involved in coaching at various crickets clubs from small children to adults. This has made me comfortable acting responsibly in the position of a role model."

Oliver Uffindal – Ombersley CC

"I am a cricket and football coach having been coaching since I was 16. I have spent time playing in Australia, taking part in 5 seasons of club cricket in the WASTCA in Perth. I remain in the game and currently work with Activate delivering cricket coaching programmes through the Andrew Flintoff Cricket Academy and Wallop in conjunction with Michael Vaughan."

Phil Higgins (Umpire)

“I joined the MCC in 1978, so I this is now my 40th year as a member. As I am retired I manage to get up to Lord’s many times which I much enjoy.

"I played cricket for many years (over 50 years), not at a particularly high standard, but I did play some games for the Mote 1st XI in the early 70’s when they were a strong club side.

"I took up umpiring in 2000 when I was still playing a bit of cricket. I joined the Kent League Umpires Panel in 2005, and stood in my first Premier League game in 2006. Since then every season most of the games I have umpired in the League have been in the Premier League.

In the last 8 years I have been fortunate to be selected most years to Umpire a Kent 1st XI pre season warm up game against another County, great to watch the professionals close up from the best seat in the house."
