Eckersley in Champion County squad

Leicestershire wicket-keeper Ned Eckersley completes the MCC squad for the Champion County trip to the UAE in March, joining the likes of Rahul Dravid and Shaun Tait in a team captained by Dale Benkenstein.

Eckersley is the final name in a 13-man tour party which takes part in the Emirates Airline t20 competition in Dubai before playing reigning County Champions Warwickshire in a day-night, first-class match at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Eckersley is a graduate of the MCC Young Cricketers scheme who joined Leicestershire after finishing his spell at Lord's in 2010.

He has been a regular with the gloves for the East Midlands county since making his debut in 2011, playing 23 first-class matches, 12 list A games and 14 t20 fixtures.

The 23-year-old has made two first-class centuries in his career to date and has an average of 32.94. Eckersley has also played t20 cricket in Zimbabwe.
