The second day of the first Investec Test of the summer at Lord's was saved by four very special structures - the floodlights.
Arguably very little cricket between England and New Zealand would have been possible on day two as the lights were turned on in the morning session and stayed on for the rest of the day's play.
With so many expectant fans in the ground on Friday it was pleasing that the only element that Lord's is still at the mercy of is the rain.
The power of lights
MCC was recently granted planning permission for the floodlights for another five-year period from 2014 to 2019.
The Club successfully applied to Westminster City Council for a renewal of the existing permission, which expires at the end of this year, with the addition of two extra day uses from 2014.
