Middlesex CCC one-day captain Eoin Morgan will be rested for the next three Royal London One Day Cup matches and his county's LV= County Championship clash with Sussex.
Middlesex and England management have agreed that the 28-year-old has had a heavy workload over the last ten months and a short break now will ensure he is ready for the one-off NatWest Twenty20 and Royal London ODI series against Australia, as well as the climax to the domestic season.
James Franklin will take over as captain for the three Royal London One Day Cup matches against Sussex Sharks, Essex Eagles and Nottinghamshire Outlaws.
Middlesex Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser said: “Eoin has been on the go since October 2014 and is in need of a rest.
"He has been working his socks off away from matches trying to find the form he wants and it has so far not brought the results he is looking for.
“We believe a week or two away from cricket will allow him to recharge and to play the cricket he wants for the remainder of the season.”
England play Australia in the second Royal London One Day international at Lord's on Saturday 5 September.
