HRH Prince Harry visited Lord's on Friday 7 October to celebrate the expansion of Coach Core, the sports coaching apprenticeship organisation he set up with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge following the 2012 Olympic Games.
Prince Harry took part in a range of games and activities on the Nursery Ground and was welcomed to the Home of Cricket by MCC President Matthew Fleming.
He was also joined by double Olympic Gold medalist Gymnast Max Whitlock, who was one of the star performers for Team GB in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, and former England cricketer Graeme Swann.
Set up and run by the Royal Foundation, Coach Core aims to take young people aged 16 – 24 with limited opportunities and train them to be sports coaches and positive role models and mentors in their communities.
In August this year, MCC recruited two Apprentice Coaches, Harry Thompson (19) and Mahbub Hussain (23) through the scheme.
Working as part of the Club's Community Programme, the pair will spend their year as apprentices helping to deliver coaching classes and other cricket related events in local Westminster schools, as well as coaching courses which take place in the MCC Cricket Academy.
