2018 Lord's fixtures confirmed

2018 Lord's fixtures confirmed

The 2018 season will commence on Friday 13th April, with 63 days of cricket scheduled across the summer.

Middlesex’s fixtures for both the 2018 Specsavers County Championship and Royal London One-Day Cup have been announced today, with all of their home four-day matches next summer taking place at Lord’s.

They will also entertain Australia in a one-off 50-over Tour Match in June at the Home of Cricket.

Middlesex will begin their Division Two campaign at Lord’s with Northamptonshire the visitors in mid-April, and Derbyshire are their final home opponents in September.

The touring Australians, who will be in the country for a five-match One-Day International series against England, will face Middlesex at Lord’s on Saturday 9th June in preparation for the Royal London One-Day Series.

After it was announced yesterday that Middlesex’s opening T20 Blast match at Lord’s will be a London derby against Surrey, there will be a further clash between the two teams on Sunday 3rd June in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Next summer’s international fixtures at Lord’s were confirmed back in September and England will begin their summer of cricket with the opening Test Match of the summer against Pakistan, beginning on Thursday 24th May, before welcoming India on Thursday 9th August.

The Royal London One-Day Cup Final takes place on Saturday 30th June before two weeks’ later, India get an early look at their Test Match surroundings as they take on England in an ODI.

As well as Middlesex’s matches and major matches, there are a host of other fixtures taking place at Lord’s in 2018, including MCC matches against MCC Young Cricketers and Hong Kong CC, the MCCU Final, Oxford vs. Cambridge, Eton vs. Harrow and the Village Cup Final, amongst many others. There is also a further fixture announcement due soon.

Away from Lord's, the 2018 County season begins on Tuesday 27th March when MCC take on Specsavers County Championship Division One champions Essex at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. The first round of MCCU fixtures kick-off the first-class season on Sunday 1st April, and day/night Championship cricket also returns for a second successive season, with Middlesex taking on Kent at Canterbury in late June.
