MCC continue their touring programme this week as they embark on a ten-day tour of China and Hong Kong.

Former England and Middlesex captain Mike Gatting, who is a Patron of Hong Kong Cricket Club, is the Tour Manager for the squad of thirteen, who will play two matches in Shanghai before moving on to five more games in Hong Kong.

The squad comprises MCC Members from across the country, and will be captained by Rupert Kitzinger, who formerly played Minor Counties Cricket for Dorset. Kitzinger, an ECB Level 4 Coach, was cricket professional at Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong in 2008/2009 and also played against Hong Kong for MCC when they toured in 2014.

Also included in the squad is former Pakistan seamer Yasir Arafat, who has featured in all three formats of the game for his country and has played for six different counties in the last 12 years. He is also currently the fourth leading wicket-taker in the world in T20 cricket.

The tour will begin with MCC taking on Shanghai Cricket Club at Wellington College, before facing a China XI.

They will then fly to Hong Kong and begin the second leg of the tour with a 40-over match against Hong Kong Cricket Club. MCC will then switch to the T20 format to face Kowloon Cricket Club, before playing a 35-over affair against Hong Kong Dragons.

Craigengower Cricket Club will provide the next opposition, again in a 35-over game, before another meeting with Hong Kong to finish the tour, this time in a 50-over match next weekend.

MCC last visited China and Hong Kong in October 2014, the Club’s first ever Women’s tour of the Far East. Gatting was also the Manager of that tour, with the side playing five 40-over matches and four T20 matches.
