A hat-trick from Jofra Archer sealed victory for Sussex Sharks over Middlesex this evening in the Vitality Blast, despite a defiant 90 from Eoin Morgan.
The Sharks prevailed by 12 runs in a thrilling South Group game, as Middlesex reached 156 for 7 in reply to Sussex’s 168 all out.
The visitors won the toss and after electing to bat, saw opener Phil Salt blast the fastest ever T20 half-century at Lord’s, achieved from just 19 deliveries.
Delray Rawlins fell one run short of his half-century, whilst it was Tom Barber who was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts, taking 4 for 28. Ashton Agar (3 for 41) and Ravi Patel (2 for 27) were also amongst the wicket-takers.
Morgan led the charge for Middlesex but never really had much support after Nick Gubbins fell for a run-a-ball 25 and with 16 needed from the final over, bowled by Archer, the home side could only manage three singles, with the other three balls producing a special Lord’s hat-trick.
Vitality Blast action returns to Lord's on Thursday 16th August (6:15pm) when Middlesex face Essex. Tickets for the match are available now and can be purchased by clicking here.
