A National Asian Cricket Council (NACC) XI will play against the Cross Arrows on the Nursery Ground at Lord’s on Monday 24th September. Play is scheduled to start at 10.45am.
The fixture follows ten matches played earlier this summer between MCC and NACC at selected clubs across the country, which formed part of MCC’s strategy for deepening its engagement with players from a South Asian background. NACC won eight of those ten matches.
Former cricketer and current Leicestershire CCC CEO Wasim Khan MBE will captain the NACC XI on Monday. The players selected for the NACC team have been nominated by managers of the ten teams that played over the summer. They were selected on merit and performance.
Gulfraz Riaz, the Club Cricket Conference’s Chairman and Cricket Development Manager, said: “The match against the Cross Arrows is the culmination of what has been a fantastic summer of cricket between the NACC and MCC. We see this game as a very special occasion and an incredible treat for the selected NACC players and officials.
“The series of matches was put together after working with the MCC Young Cricketers and through a strong partnership over a number of projects with MCC, for which we are incredibly grateful.
“NACC is the ECB’s key advisory partner on South Asian cricketing engagement and it was important that we aligned the games in ECB-funded core cities. The NACC hopes that these games will be repeated in the cricketing calendar for next season and that the fixture list can be expanded, for the betterment of the cricketing family as a whole.”
Admission to the Ground on Monday is £3.00
