Fever-Tree introduces Perfect Pairings, a new video series designed to explore great partnerships in the game, with the first being contemporary England duo Alastair Cook and Joe Root.
Root will take over from Cook as Test captain this week and we hear from Kumar Sangakkara, Chris Woakes, Steven Finn, Chris Rogers, Mike Brearley and Daniel Vettori on the importance of both players to the England team.
Cook first featured for England in 2006, scoring a century on debut, and was made captain in 2012 before surpassing Graham Gooch’s tally of 8,900 runs to become his county's all-time leading Test run scorer.
During his first series as skipper a then 21-year-old Root broke into the England Test team in the final match of a famous series victory in India.
Overall, the pair have reached 100 as a partnership on six occasions, with the highest 185 against Pakistan last year at Old Trafford.
Root has now established himself as one of the finest batsman in the world and will get the opportunity to succeed Cook by leading England out for the very first time as Test captain in the Test against South Africa on July 6 at Lord’s.
