Situated next to the world famous Lord’s Cricket Ground, the Lord's Tavern is a popular destination for locals and those who visit the Home of Cricket for a Lord's Tour, to take in a match or simply for an enjoyable dining experience with high quality food in a discreet and relaxing environment.
A new opportunity has arisen for a Tavern Manager (Maternity Cover). The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day management and development of the Lord’s Tavern to ensure delivery of a high end pub food and beverage offer. This will include the management, briefing and training of the Lord’s Tavern team along with improving the quality of standards across the business.
The Tavern Manager must possess an in depth knowledge of food and beverage trends within the industry. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of management accounts including GP controls and labour margins. The candidate must be able to identify sales and marketing opportunities in order to drive and develop the business. Other key responsibilities include product and menu development of the food and beverage pub offerings, stock control management and maintenance of both the front and back of house service standards in keeping with the grounds iconic status.
Required skills and experience
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a similar role and will currently at be at a General Manager or similar ‘Pub’ Manager level within a high volume, food led business. Strong leadership, successful management and the ability to demonstrate this success is essential.
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish relationships with a range of customers and suppliers is required. A passion for food/beverage and up to date knowledge of current food/beverage trends is key.
Strong IT skills, especially Word and Excel, is essential, along with the ability to prioritise, self-plan and organise workloads and work to often tight deadlines.
