The partnership between MCC and Deloitte began in 2016 when Deloitte came on board as a partner to help support the MCC Universities (MCCU) programme.
Since 2005, MCC has funded six university cricket academies, which are based in Cambridge, Cardiff, Durham, Leeds/Bradford, Loughborough and Durham.
The aim of the MCCUs is to give talented young cricketers the chance to receive top-level coaching and playing opportunities whilst furthering their education.
Around 20% of all England-qualified county cricketers have been through an MCCU, with Andrew Strauss the most famous of all. Most recently, Zafar Ansari and Sam Billings have represented England whilst Toby-Roland Jones, Nick Gubbins, Josh Poysden, Jack Leach and Tom Westley are involved in either the England or England Lions squads.
Deloitte provides invaluable support to MCC and the MCC Universities programme, helping to develop rising stars within the game as well as encouraging talented players to think about life away from cricket.
John Stephenson, Assistant Secretary, MCC
“We are delighted to have Deloitte as a partner to the MCC Universities scheme. Deloitte’s corporate identity is well suited to a scheme that aims to produce leaders both on and off the cricket field.”
