A twelve man squad has set off for Finland as MCC's second overseas tour of 2014 gets underway on Thursday 5 June.
The group will be led by York CC captain Robert Flack who will work alongside team manager Robert Ibbotson.
MCC has worked closely with Cricket Finland
The squad departs Lord’s early on Thursday morning before their first Twenty20 fixture against the Finland national team on Friday.
Saturday 7 June sees MCC take on a Cricket Finland Chairman’s XI in a 40-over match, before Finland face Denmark U19s in a Twenty20 match later that day. MCC then play Denmark U19s in a 50-over match on Sunday 8 June.
The final day of the tour on Tuesday 10 June will see the MCC squad giving coaching sessions to local young cricketers before taking on Finland in the final T20 game of the tour.
All matches on the tour will be played at the Kerava National Cricket Ground, which has recently finished a period of renovation. The official opening of its new Pavilion will take place before the final tour match on Tuesday 10 June.
Lord Mervyn King, President of MCC’s partner charity Chance to Shine, will be present to host the ceremony.
MCC World Cricket committee chairman Mike Brearley, who will be present for part of the tour, said: "MCC has worked closely with Cricket Finland and it’s fitting that we send a touring party there to mark the opening of its first cricket ground and pavilion.
"The Club has sent a strong squad to represent it and I’m sure they will offer some useful coaching tips to local youngsters who are learning the game during Finnish Cricket Week.
"I’m delighted to have been invited to attend the tour and I’m looking forward to seeing the result of a lot of hard work by Cricket Finland."
The most recent MCC tour visited Singapore and Malaysia in March of this year and was led by former Lancashire captain Mark Chilton.
There are two MCC tours remaining in 2014, to Botswana (22 September – 4 October) and Japan (29 October – 10 November).
