ECB Chairman Giles Clarke has congratulated David Morgan on being named as Mike Gatting's successor as MCC President.
Clarke, who replaced Morgan on taking up his current role, described the decision as "excellent news for MCC and the game as a whole".
He added: "David has a reputation for honesty and integrity earned over many years at first Glamorgan, then with ECB before being elected as President of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
"He has a wealth of experience, both domestically and internationally, which I am sure will be invaluable for the MCC, their committee, staff and members."
Morgan served as Chairman of the ECB between 2002 and 2008 when he became President of the ICC, a position he held until 2010.
The Welshman will become MCC President from 1 October 2014, serving a one-year term. His appointment was announced by incumbent Gatting at the Club's AGM on Wednesday 7 May.
